Two of us called in here for an evening meal while staying locally at Flusco Woods Lodges and reading the good reviews. Despite there appearing to be tables free in the restaurant (I know all is not as it seems with covid regulations!) we were sat in the area to the rear of the bar - basically a very sad room with a large tv on the wall. We did ask if we could be seated in the restaurant area however we were told they were full in there. When we were first seated we were the only two in the room, well apart from a swarm of houseflies, that was until three local lads turned up for a few drinks and the footie. They were friendly enough and initially we enjoyed a bit of banter. They asked the landlord for the tv to be switched on for the footie & he obliged. We decided to again ask if there was any room in the restaurant as the atmosphere where we were was not what we had planned for the evening. We were again told that they were full so we would have to remain where we were. This was about the time when the effing & jeffing started from the lads so we decided to cut our losses, finish our drinks and try and find somewhere else locally to have a meal in better surroundings. I went to the bar and was asked were we ready to order by the young waitress. I explained we wouldn't be eating now and asked to pay the bill for the drinks. It was now that our experience at The Clickham Inn began to improve as the landlady appeared and asked what the problem was. She said to give her two minutes and true to her word she took us through to the almost empty restaurant area and seated us at a table for two. Despite there being a great Dishes of the Day board on display when we both came to order from it we were told that none of them were on that day! So after a quick look at the menus again (which we had kept to swat away the flies!) we both decided on the steak & ale pie - one with mash, the other with chips. We could not fault the meals, however as soon as we were served we were joined by Oscar. To be honest he didn't bother us too much despite him giving my leg a tap now and again to remind us he was there waiting for some titbits. We're dog lovers so weren't put off our meals but can see how this could be off putting to some.

So in general: 3/10 for initial part of the evening in the bar (beer & wine were good) 0/10 for initial request for a different table 0/10 for second request to move 10/10 to landlady for very quickly finding another table 10/10...

Lovely pub with fantastic food. We were staying close by and phoned on the off-chance they had space that evening. We were happy to sit outside as we had our dog with us and we were fitted in. When we arrived they had sorted the table outside in advance with cutlery and an umbrella up. Service was excellent and the food was unbelievable!! Clearly home cooked, freshly prepared and large portions. Had the chicken and Ham pie, Steak and Ale pie, Fish and Chips and Gammon. For dessert we had Sticky Toffee pudding and Mars Bar Cheesecake (the days special). Would recommend all the food, but special mentions for the 'full to bursting pies' and both the desserts. Would definitely go back when we visit the Lake District again.

Update - we returned this week. Food was just as good, service was quick and friendly. The steak and ale pie was just as good, and the katsu curry was very nice. For dessert the chocolate cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding were still fantastic and very reasonably priced...

Just returned from here after looking for pubs close to Ullswater Heights Lodge Retreat.

This has to be the NICEST pub food we’ve ever tasted and we’ve been to quite a lot of pubs.

Firstly, the staff were really friendly, asking if everything was ok and had great customer service ensuring our experience was a good one.

Secondly, the food was incredible! In comparison to your local pub chain, you need to wait a little bit longer, but when food is cooked fresh for each person, you can see why. I ordered the butternut squash soup and pork belly and it was incredible.

The homemade chips are amazing and you won’t find many pubs making them like this, they reminded me of my grandparents way of making chips, perfection!

Honestly, if you’re looking at somewhere to go to eat and drink, then book a table here, you won’t be disappointed!

We will be recommending you to others and will return on our next trip...

We visited the Clickham Inn today after visiting Ullswater. We were looking for a nice pub that serves home cooked food and that's exactly what we found. We have a 6 month old baby daughter and a 1 year old labrador so we sat outside. When we went to order the staff said that we didn't have to sit outside and come in as it was a windy (ish) day. They couldn't have been more welcoming. Straight away they interacted with our baby and our dog (social distanced of course), Bob (the dog) even got gravy bones. We ordered food, we haven't eaten in a pub for nearly a year and if there was a pub you want to eat at after all that time it is definitely the Clickham in. The food, the staff, the atmosphere all amazing. I feel bad I didn't get the names of the staff members who made us feel so welcome. We are holidaying for almost another week so we will be heading back there. Thank you all at the Clickham Inn. 👍

Amazing My wife and I visited the Clickham inn for Sunday lunch, we did not pre- book for lunch but a member of the very friendly staff greeted us and accommodated us without a problem but as the pub does get very ,busy it is advised to pre- book, we did have our dog with us and they do welcome pets as long as they are well behaved, we then had our waitress who was very friendly& polite and very professional, nothing was too much trouble, my wife ordered the lamb Sunday roast and I ordered the beef in beer pie, both meals were presented very well and tasted fantastic, compliments to the chef, all the food is fresh and tasted amazing, all of the staff work hard to give you great food and service, needless to say we will be returning and would highly recommend to others but be aware that the car park is on the small side
