It's always a great idea to stop by this almost magical old place for a drink or two whenever we are passing through the village! I love the relaxed atmosphere and friendly people, besides the fact that this is such a cool pub with it's very old rooms, each one with their own character and older than old charm from a bygone era! Decent priced drinks, can't say anything about the food because we haven't eaten there yet, but we will be trying it next time! Go get yourself to cold drink and enjoy your time either inside in one of the small unusual beautifully decorated with old chairs and other furniture, or go outside where it is possible to be around other people equally enjoying themselves on a sunday afternoon, with enough room and sitting chairs/ tables so everyone is comfortable! You will love...

Love this pub. I used to live nearer, so only occasional visitor now. Went in week before Christmas. Beer fantastic, service very good. Until enquired about food as was lunchtime. Was told they had some bookings. However, this meant 2 tables of about 8 or so each. All the other tables, i.e.a dozen or so and rooms were empty. So slightly surprised they could not cater for two of us. NOW, the scary bit. We asked about the chance of perhaps a sandwich? Then was startled to be advised that it takes longer in time to make a sandwich than a cooked meal. Worried if true. Sad, as this pub used to be full of diners not that long ago. Not sure if will venture back. Moved to 3 stars for beer and...

We booked The Cock Inn for a stopover in our campervan, half way on a longer journey. There is a specific secure camping field to park up and facilities (water/toilets) to use when pub closed. We were given all the details and a map on arrival, very organised. The pub itself is quirky and traditional, and it was nice to see the locals all enjoying a pint, which I loved. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We had booked a table and were shown to a small newly refurbished dining room. The menu is full of traditional pub grub. I had the cottage pie and veg which was piping hot and delicious. The Brixton pale ale is a...

Gets better every time I visit! Excellent beer, good and reasonably priced homemade food and lovely staff. The pub itself is a quirky old building with bags of character, and it has a fair bit of outdoor space, too. Edit: I have revisited several times since my initial review and sadly this place is not as good as before. Service is incredibly hit and miss with long queues for a drink and food not always being available. The food is of variable quality also, with my last meal being really bad. Having said all that, it's still a pretty pub, in a great location and the beers are generally in excellent condition.
