Disappointing experience this evening.
Booked a table early at 615pm after passing the pub on several occasions complementing on how nice it looks which led us to look online at the menu which was nice and so we booked.
We arrived and was welcomed by a lady who appeared to be the owner. We were shown to our table by a member of staff and we gave our drinks order in. This gave us time to choose our meals.
The starters all came out correctly and in a reasonable time. The starters were nice and value for money.
Then it started to go wrong with our mains. They came out sporadically and 2 meals were missing. One meal that did come was not cooked correctly and items of another meal were missing.
We asked the staff member who went in to find out what was happening. Then he came back and asked what was wrong and again we had to explain that one meal was incorrectly cooked and another had items missing from it. Also again said that 2 meals out of the 8 were still to be brought out.
He went back and arranged for the missing item to given and the steak to be re cooked.
Again the 2 missing meals were mentioned by myself and it was only then some 5 minutes after members of our family were given there food that a admission of the 2 meals hadn't been put on the order and therefore they were making a priority to get this sorted.
Some 20 minutes later after this admission and priority on our meals being produced they still hadn't been served.
I went to the original lady who I believes to be the owner and I stated I was not happy and wished her to find out what was happening.
Unfortunately she didn't and never came to me to let me know what was happening.
In the kitchen it sounded like there was a disagreement between staff which was not helpful or reassuring to hear as guests!
A further 10 minutes later after we all were feeling upset and angered that we hadn't all eaten together the 2 meals arrived.
One meal had the wrong items on the plate and the other meal initially looked ok. The missing item was then served and I started on my meal. It was the mixed grill and I started to cut the piece of gammon and found it was hard to cut and to my utter annoyance and anger found it was not cooked!!
To say that was unbelievable after waiting all that time is a understatement.
I called the member of staff over and told him of my annoyance and anger of being given undercooked food after all the messing around. He asked what he could do and I said nothing he could has I wasn't prepared to wait any longer for food that clearly has been rushed even though it was a priority.
Shocking.
We had the 2 items taken of our bill as the other family member had now lost his appetite. Also drinks were discounted from the bill.
We want to pay and the gentleman behind the bar who I believe may have been the owner asked if we had enjoyed our meals to which we answered no has 2 meals hadn't been ordered through in the first place. He asked when we did receive the food was it ok and we told no, his response again to my disbelief and disappointment was "oh ok" not a why or what was wrong.
So my advice If choosing this establishment is maybe reconsider your choice or check all your meals have been ordered and they are cooked correctly.
Reading other reviews it would appear we are not the only ones to have had bad experiences.
It's a shame, as the starters were nice, to be let down by the...

In light of this, we will be returning to see if things have improved. I also think it is only fair to let readers of these reviews know that they do take complaints seriously. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………..
My husband and I joined two other couples - six of us in total - for lunch here last week. We duly ordered our lunches and waited for the food. When it came out, there were only four meals; I, and my friend’s husband, had nothing. The waitress asked if she could get our table anything else and I pointed out that my friend and I had no meal. I told the others to start their meals so they didn’t go cold. She disappeared for a while and returned saying there had been a mistake and that our two meals would be at least another 5 - 10 minutes. She returned a while later saying that our meals would be another 20 minutes. The waitress then suggested that she take all the meals back - bearing in mind that they had all started eating - and heat them up again when our missing meals were ready so that we could all eat at the same time. We all thought that was a really ridiculous suggestion. One of our group said it was the third time they had had trouble at this pub recently. While we were still waiting for our 2 meals the woman who had originally taken our order came over to our table, started waving two pieces of paper around saying that she had written our meal orders down and there must be a fault with one of the buttons on their system. She then repeated that it wasn’t her fault and there must be a fault with the system. Why make excuses? Why can’t people just say - we got it wrong, we’re really sorry, is there anything we can do to make your dining experience with us a better one. When we finally finished eating, each couple paid separately. My friend had their two glasses of coke knocked off their bill. When my husband went to pay, there was nothing; not a penny refunded and no apology. Whilst I appreciate that human error can occur at any time, there was absolutely nothing professional in the way this matter was dealt with. If this pub wants customers to return, they are going to have to ramp up their customer service...

I work all over the country carrying out works for a large specialist government contracted electrical company. I am used to staying in bland premier inns/ travel lodges that offer no character in such locations as London, Wales, Plymouth, Leeds Etc.
However, The Copley Arms was an absolute breath of fresh air. I was unsure with my company booking an independent form of hospitality….
As soon as I walked in to this timeless pub I realised it was special. I felt instantly welcomed by the locals, roaring fire places and vibrant staff. It was halloween on my arrival and the pub was fully decorated in spooky gear, in real detail! I asked for a pint of my hometown beverage which was a Thatcher’s haze. Was perfect, even in Cornwall.
On arrival to check in to the B&B the restaurant area of the venue was absolutely rammed full of holiday makers with top class food from the head chef, EX Navy trained Richard running the kitchen.
After a long day travelling and working I instantly felt like I was on holiday down south.
I stayed in the B&B for a few nights and always looked forward to having a drink at the bar before heading off to bed.
If your looking for a get away with a real British pub vibe pease visit this place. The owners are really investing in making the pub the core of the village and is a real gem.
I hope the owners read this and realise that you have one hell of a business on your...
