We called to the Crathorne Arms this Sunday gone.. My partner and I were treating my daughter to Sunday lunch for her birthday. We ordered two Sunday lunches, three starters and the seabass, which according to the menu was to be accompanied with mussels and new potatoes... Very nice! The Sunday lunches arrived, shortly followed be the Seabass, which had small prawn, or shrimps over the top of the fish, and no mussels. ? Sadly also missing was the new potatoes.. In there place was two rather sad looking roast potatoes. . Not what what was advertised. We asked the young server why the shrimps and lack of lovely new potatoes. She said, "sorry we ran out of both.. is that ok? " Unfortunately it wasn't, as this wasn't the meal that we had ordered. She apologised and took the meal away, meaning we had to wait for a roast lunch to come out, after two people in our party were already tucking into there meals.. At the very least I would have expected that we would have offered an alternative to the meal when ordering, rather than the restaurant deciding to bring out something other than was advertised on the menu.. Very strange, and not what I would expect from the a restaurant with this reputation for quality and service. To top it off, one of the Yorkshire puddings in the Sunday roast was so raw in the middle that it was basically an inch thick blob of batter at the bottom. I've never been served an in edible Yorkshire pudding before!? On the plus side, the vegetables were lovely, particularly the cauliflower cheese. The lamb and beef were also very good. . My daughter loved her lobster starter. But I works expect this as standard at the prices we were paying This experience was disappointing one considering a ÂŁ170 bill for three people. Not good I'm afraid. Very disappointed with our experience at the crathorne arms on...

We came on a Sunday as Iâm looking for a place that does a good Sunday dinner.
On entry to the place we were not welcomed by the very harassed looking staff. We had to stand there awkwardly trying to catch their eye to the point it became extremely uncomfortable. There was a chap with dark hair who was pointedly ignoring us and when the waitress indicated we were waiting audibly said how busy he was at the moment which is such a rude thing to do. Even though he was chatting to a customer at the bar and didnât look all that busy. He was a bit arrogant tbh. Not welcoming at all unless youâre a local maybe?
On being seated the service was very slow but the serving ladies were really nice albeit fairly inattentive. It took around an hour and a half for two courses it was that slowâŚ
I ordered a beef dinner and it was mediocre, it wasnât horrible but it wasnât great either. The beef was okay but the vegetables were all burnt. The roasties were reheated. You can always tell. In fact I wouldnât be surprised if the whole thing was reheated tbh. The small amount of greens on the plate were ok, but I would have liked more. The Yorkshire was stodgy. Tbh it would be better to give people a serving tray of the veg so they can choose how much and little they want.
The dessert was ok (ice cream) but small portion for the price tag.
The chairs and tables are mismatched and out of alignment. My chair was so high compared to the table that it touched the top of my legs and was annoying.
This place could be amazing if they improved the staffs customer service skills and put a bit more effort...
Read moreExcellent pub, excellent food, poor service by one waitress, let it down. Ordered a small white wine, and she brought a bottle of white wine. As she took the order, she should have realised the mistake before bringing it to the table. I pointed out I ordered a small white wine, and she said she would get it changed. (No apology) glass of white wine arrived. As we had only had our starters, I then asked her to make sure that I wouldn't be charged for the bottle she assured me I wouldn't be but didnt look like she cared. After our 2 course meal I then asked the same waitress for our bill, as I wasn't convinced that the bill would be correct I checked it and sure enough I was charged for the full bottle of wine. So I called the same waitress over and explained that I had been charged for the full bottle she rolled her eyes at me and went to get it sorted. It then came back with a medium wine on it and not a small wine like it was originally ordered no apology by this time i was losing the will to live. I dont need the stress of keeping staff right when out for a meal. It's a shame as apart from that the food was excellent. We always tip between 10-20% but don't if we've had issues. Due to her not caring, I was reluctant to tip and I won't rush back as I should be able to enjoy a relaxing meal and expect a waitress to get it right in the first place and she let her Co workers down as they were all lovely and busy. We felt as the food was great. we went to the bar to pay the bill and left just £5 tip as an acknowledgement that the food was good. I can't even say its a training issue more like she couldn't care, less, which is a shame as she let...
