The Crooked Billet is a friendly traditional village pub. There is a wide choice of beers lager and cider including John Smith's bitter and two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales which were in excellent condition when I visited. This cosy 400 year old former Tetley pub serves meals and Sunday roast. I haven't tried the food, but the menu looks very inviting. There is a dart board in the bar, a covered outdoor seating area, and the pub is dog friendly. Highly recommended.

Went for a surprise birthday meal at The Crooked Billet, Ryehill with 11 other guests. The atmosphere, beer, wine and most importantly, the food were truly excellent!! The staff were brilliant and could not do enough for us but in the same way, didn’t hover over us- they left us to enjoy our meals safe in the knowledge, they would be there if we needed anything.

When half of the group order stir fries, fish & chips (which looked OUTSTANDING!!), stroganoffs (steak or chicken) and the other half order steaks ranging from medium to really, really well done, you expect timing issues for them to get to the table but not here- all meals arrive within seconds of each other and absolutely cooked to perfection without an ounce of fat on the steaks themselves. Not one complaint from any of the guests!!! I really cannot recommend this place enough! And I’m already looking forward to returning!!

Cheers Billet! Thank you for a...

Proper home cooked food and really friendly staff. The hand pulled beers are a bit generic but they do keep a very good cellar, a quality that is so often lacking nowadays. Prices are very reasonable and the portion size is excellent. Staff will come over to you during your meal and ask if you want more veg or gravy etc... It's very easy to throw a 5 star rating at somewhere for the sake of it, but Crooked Billet deserves...
