Sadly we had a very unpleasant experience at this pub. We arrived for a dinner booking at 6.30pm with 2 small children. We eventually ate at 7:50pm having seen various tables around us being served before us. We mentioned to staff that we had been waiting a long time, and so they initially brought out the children's food after about 30-40mins. Through the various exchanges we had with the manager, he was passive-agressive and unapologetic explaining that the pub was busier than usual due to a quiz night. We were on the verge of leaving when the rest of the food arrived, at which point the same manager emerged and produced a ticket to say we had only been waiting 48 minutes according to their system. We feel that some mistake happened with our order, as it certainly wasn't 48 minutes from when we actually ordered the food (just when it got through their system). In any case, it took several exchanges before there was even a minor apology from the manager. We felt other staff were trying to smooth things over. When the mains arrived, the burgers were somehow overcooked (the childrens earlier were not). They removed one main from the bill as an apology, but this didn't feel like adequate compensation for the really rubbish experience. We have visited the Crown many times over the last 10 years or so, and never had such a...

I visited this pub recently due to the great reviews, however, I have to say I was very disappointed.

We visited for a Sunday dinner and I wasn't impressed with the food, there were hardly any vegetables; we had this tiny bowl of what looked like fried cabbage. You had to pay extra for cauliflower cheese, and you got hardly any of that (only place I have ever known you had to pay extra for that).

My meal arrived with a tiny amount of gravy, I had to go and ask for more, any other place usually brings a gravy boat out to the table.

My Dad had the Sirloin Beef and he said it was very chewy and not very nice at all, he asked for horse radish and someone bought a little bowl over and put it on for him then took it away.

All in all I thought they were quite stingy with their food portions in comparison to other places.

My Dad also noted that he was overcharged...

Not the best service. We booked a table and turned up on time, someone poked their head out and said oh, we're not open yet, give us a little bit. Fine, we waited patiently. Perhaps half an hour went by and someone else came out saying they'd been open for ages, what were we doing standing outside! Strange. The waitress didn't seem to know the menu or the bar very well. I asked for a large diet coke and was served a small regular coke. They gave me the choice of mash or chips with my mushroom wellington, I said mash please, it came out with chips, and the pastry was undercooked too, frankly. Apart from that, food was nice, generous portions and they were pleasant enough people. Just needed some improvements to...

Utterly brilliant. There were 22 of us. 12 adults and 10 children. Sounds awful right? Not at the Crown Inn. Plenty of board games to keep the kids and adults entertained. Though, I lost at Scrabble 😥 Food was excellent and so was the service. Nothing was too much hassle and the cider was amazing. The star of the show was the fresh horseradish sauce. The best I've ever tasted, and made me wish I'd picked the beef. That said, the pork was amazing too. Will definitely visit again next time we are in the area. We need more of that horseradish and cider in our lives 😋

I'm not normally a fan of pub food as most places are rather standard and disappointing, however, the food at The Crown were exceptional! (even got a simple bowl of chunky fries right!!) The cheese souffle and crab bap from the daily special menu were superb. Texas pizza was a tad sweet for my liking but they have this hot sauce that spice up perfectly. Roast beef and cauliflower cheese were delicious. Generous portion for small fish and chips. Really friendly staff aswell, great service.

I’m sorry to write this as the staff were lovely but unfortunately this was the worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had. We were massively disappointed to pay £85 for a meal out to have undercooked meat, one burnt carrot, one broccolini, one burnt Yorkshire and four potatoes you couldn’t put a fork through. Will never visit again.
