A delightful pub in a picturesque village. We phoned ahead to book a motorhome stopover for Friday night. We have quite a large van but the landlord reserved us a parking spot and assisted us with parking up. The evening meal was excellent and very reasonably priced. My wife had lasagne whilst I had gammon and pineapple, both were perfectly cooked. The pub was bustling throughout the day with visitors, which was pleasing to see in this day and age when many establishments seem to be struggling. We noticed that the pub does breakfasts on Saturday mornings, so we were pleased to be able to enjoy an excellent breakfast before we left. We only live 1 hr away up the A1 but had never previously visited Brompton on Swale, it was certainly a delightful night away which we shall repeat again soon. Thanks for your wonderful hospitality. Eth and Geoff Blakey.

We came for Saturday lunch and the place was almost empty but still a good atmosphere. You pay separately for bar drinks and food (including a pot of tea) from the menu. But this wasn't a problem. The food was average in price and my stroganoff was as expected and the salad although finely chopped was very acceptable. My husband had the curry and he didn't think it was good at all but was a huge portion. We didn't say anything and no one asked.

Cracking pub and very friendly staff. Good beers in draught and plenty of places to sit and be comfortable. Staff were quick to offer a high chair for our little jam eater and it's also a dog friendly pub šŸ» Only negative was no Fish and Chips on the menu however, I got the hotshot parmo and it was brilliant.

Cash only which is a hindrance. Food cheap, however, not home made. Sunday lunch is not the best. Tasted like tinned/frozen veg and turkey, though I have had worse. Drinks are nice, atmosphere appears ok. Many of the staff are really nice. BE WARNED tho... there is a notice in the carpark stating.. park at your own risk!!!! And it is a risk After!!!! After having lunch and returning home I noticed my car and trailer had been damaged, clearly by another vehicle. I rang the pub as I noticed CCTV outside and asked if they worked, to be told by a man with ATTITUDE " of course my CCTV works!!", I then explained my car had been damaged to rudely be told... "I don't have cameras out the back and there is a big notice stating park at your own risk". No apologies just rudeness. Rude little man with attitude!!.... I highly recommend you stay away if driving beacause there isn't any where else to park other than their car park or alternatively walk on foot.. Myself and family will never step foot in that pub again after the rudeness I received over the phone.

OK, they owner has replied back and I am unable to directly comment on their post, so I will edit this. I am not a liar!!. The food did not taste fresh and that is mine and the party members opinions!!! As for the man that answered the phone call regarding my damaged car, I suggest you go n have a word with him. He clearly stated the CCTV worked, then stated he didn't have it round the back and abruptly stated you park at your own risk. If it wasn't a man, then some lady clearly needs throats lozenges!!!! End of drama!! I won't be coming back here and I certainly won't be...

Visited here for the first time tonight with my partner, mum and her husband. Lovely atmosphere on entering, I’m gluten intolerant and had a few options on the menu which was great and even chips! Which was even better, I had a very delicious curry, my partner had a burger which he enjoyed too. A simple menu, done really well. Which is exactly what you want when visiting a pub, we had desserts also, which again were very yummy and was refreshing to have something to offer me other than icecream. The whole table enjoyed their meals. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating, food wasn’t a long wait, the prices were very reasonable and the pub itself was lovely and clean (when I nipped to the ladies I noticed a a basket with free feminine products, which I thought was a lovely touch) Overall a superb experience and will definitely be visiting again, safe to say best pub within the Brompton on swale, Richmond and Catterick...
