My Wife and I were extremely lucky to be able to eat at this fabulous Pub recently. We attended on the 19th of May a Sunday, having heard glowing reports of the roast dinners. However in fairness we have heard many good reports about this place with regards all the food that they serve. My wife chose Roast Pork and I chose the Roast Beef. It was beyond superb. Everything was really nicely cooked. The meat extremely tender and the vegetables crisp. The Landlady (Amanda), has a great team who are courteous, extremely friendly and have brought this great pub back to what it was years ago. It really is worth a visit. Debbie (Chefess), adds her own touch to everything. Whilst I haven't had the chance to try all of the dishes, I am aware that she is one for using local seasonal dishes, such as Venison, Pheasant, Duck, pigeon amongst all the traditional dishes. My only complaint is that we couldn't quite clear our plates, I then spent three sleepless nights worrying about the vegetables and lovely roast potatoes that we both had to leave. Great place and we can't wait to return. Thank you Debbie, Amanda and...
Read moreBooked lunch for 4 adults week before. Arrived at 12.30PM there were 2 tables of 4 people one eating the other waiting. We chose fish and chips for 2 and chicken pie for 2. Which in my view are not complicated. I was informed by the lady serving that there would be a slight delay due to staffing issues. I accepted that and joined my guests with drinks. A party of 4 followed me and sat outside. They were served before us but accept they had cold food. Another couple arrived after us and ordered food They sat outside as they had a puppy. They were served before us,they had hot food, mussels and lamb shank
We were finally served our meals at 1.40 PM over an hour later. Finishing our meals I went to pay I said that the food was okay by the delay spoiled the visit. I was told that I had been informed that there would be a delay I said not only was the delay excessive but others were served before us. No apology offered. I have since discovered that the owners of the crows nest own another pub and have been found to occasionally share the chef, which may have accounted for the staffing issues but...
Read moreWent on a busy bank holiday sunday- was sat in to eat our food next to band playing which music was sensationally loud. Asked to move got moved to dingy dark side room no atmosphere nor no one there to serve. Ordered two sunday lunches, for the price you’d expect everything to be spot on. We got served our food after an hour of waiting, Stone cold like it had been sat on the side for 15 mins before coming out. Hardly any of the things that was stated on menu was on plate. One carrot, a scrape of sweed it was like for decoration & 3 potatoes. Meat was good size but again for the price you'd expect to leave full. Any how, sent back as im not going to be eating stone cold food ? Even cauliflower cheese was cold which was sent separate. We wated another 20 minutes for it to come back out and it had just been microwaved.
It was such bother, felt unwelcomed & felt like a hassle asking for things to be changed. Staff are over worked but their attitude shows because of this. I defo wont be returning/...
