When we booked Blue Rose Country Park, we looked for somewhere that does Sunday Lunch, as the wife checks all reviews we came across Dacre Arms ( 15 minute walk from Blue rose) . We thought ahead and booked in as still under current covid rules, on arrival we were greeted by a lovely young lady who asked if we'd booked and glad we did as it was busy around 15.00, still a few tables spare but you don't want to be dissapointed after building up an appetite with a bike ride in the morning 🚵♀️🚵♂️ We sat at our table and ordedered drinks and sat looking at the menu, The waitress came over to take our order where i asked about the Sunday Lunch or Giant Yorkshire (after seeing this on a dinners plate on way to our table), She replied if you like Yorkshire pudding go for it and change the veggies to your liking i was SOLD 😋 wife chose the smaller home made pie which she said was delightfull, i was still in Yorkshire heaven ! After our main we chose a pudding 😋 only way to follow my plate full was Apple crumble don't be shy with custard, wife had sticky toffee with custard both to go back for. With the pleasant service from the Young ladies & really nice food set in lovely surroundings we left to walk this off. If your in the area make The Dacre Arms a go too place and try the treats on offer, Thanks team if were around we will...
Read moreOrdered drinks & sat down with the menu to be told we only had 5 minutes to decide as the kitchen was closing at 8pm, I'm sure the website said 9pm but the menu was different to that online so it's probably not been updated, sat in what used to be the restaurant/function room (which has certainly gone down hill) as the other tables had reserved on them (even tho the kitchen was closing in 5) ordered starters which came very quickly and were very tasty, ordered mixed grills for mains, no sausages available so we could have an egg instead. Food came swimming in fat, egg was like cardboard underneath and snotty on top chips were burnt and dripping with grease, ether the gammon was under it's 5oz or the steak was well over it's 6oz aren't to sure but all in all a very overcooked & undercooked tasteless meal and most definitely the worst mixed grill I've ever had hence most of it coming home for the dogs which is disappointing as the dacre in it's day used to be the best place to eat for miles around how times change, I certainly won't ever eat...
Read moreVisited last night for a meal for 4 people. Had a nice meal but as some of the staff were finishing there shift and leaving..no one asked if everything was ok or came to clear our plates.. so after 15 mins , I asked if we could have a look at deserts to be told sorry I think the kitchen is closed... my reply was " no one came to clear our plates and ask if we wanted desert menu!!!" Eventually we were told if we are quick we can have desert... we ordered 2 which were enjoyable!!. We finally went to PAY and depart , the 2 males went ahead and as they did so the bar man commented to a customer who I guess was a regular " I think they're not gunna pay" As we approached the bar TO PAY, he walked backwards back into the bar TO take our payment. We left feeling angry frustrated and upset. Please don't presume that non local non regular customers are untrustworthy!!!! Been here a few times over the last few months.. nice place , lovely food.!!!!! Due to this experience our friends who had joined us feel too upset...
