Gorgeous surroundings and inside area. however, I'd give a miss. The wine was good, but the service was slow. Two tables had to cancel / reschedule their next course as they had treatments booked. If it had been just one table I'd assume poor time management but as it was two tables I came to a different conclusion. I had to ask for my table to be wiped as it was quite dirty. I had to call over staff to take my order. And I paid at the bar. The food, I asked for a Caesar salad (popular on the menu apparently - clearly as most people haven't eaten there more than once) I requested no croutons, as everything by was very carb heavy on the menu. I asked if any chance of more bacon instead - to which I was told I'd be charged and implied the chef wouldn't like it. Well, said chef made a Caesar salad from 5-6 cos leaves, a bundle of (not crispy) shredded bacon, and chicken reminiscent of plastic packed you find in the deli isle of your local supermarket. No anchovies. The Parmesan was shredding fine, not in the way a Caesar should be and the tiniest dollop of Caesar dressing. To all salad lovers out there, this was disappointing and really quite sad. For £16 I expected a mountain of greens, fresh hot chicken and crispy bacon bits. Large curls of Parmesan. Honestly,...

Starters: The prawn and smoked salmon. A layer of lettuce on the bottom with the prawns on top of that in a very watered down cocktail sauce. This was then covered with strips of salmon. Bland to say the least with no imagination in terms of presentation. Mains. I had the pork. The only hot item on the plate were the roast potatoes. Everything else was warm at best whilst the Yorkshire Pud was soggy.
We tried 4 salt cellars and none worked until eventually a member of staff brought some loose in a small bowl for us to sprinkle over the food with our fingers. She admitted they had nothing but trouble with the cellars so why put them out?
No utensils to serve up the veg either. We had to use knife and fork.
Staff were distant at best.
They then had the cheek to try and charge a 10% service fee which I politely turned down.
I also reported everything wrong with the meal to a young lad who took my money but in view of my report, he did not appear to be too bothered.
Despite wonderful quality of both food and staff across last year for which I gave great reviews, I doubt I will...
Read moreA lovely restaurant, spoiled by poor food and inattentive staff. Dipping oil/olives starters were served with bread containing dried fruit. Salmon was raw in the middle and everything on the plate was lukewarm at best. Fruity bread made another appearance on the cheese board. Took ages to order our food because the bored young waitress, who was hanging around doing very little was studiously avoiding eye contact. Clearly, we weren't sat at one of 'her' tables; we weren't able to place our order until another waitress appeared. We have eaten lunch at The Dome and were very happy, but it appears to have deteriorated -...
