Had a booking for dinner, made us wait to be seated for quite a while. After sat at reserved table, no menu no waiter came for nearly 10 min. When we came to the til, we were told that to order drink first at til even this shouldnt allow during covid. No ones seems follow the guidance, hence, the staff keeps serving people drinks at til, ignore customers who had table reserved for meal. After almost 30 min no food no order and no drink. I had to put myself in the queue at the bar, just want to grab the waiter for menu. To avoid anything negative happend for our dinner out....we decided to leave, and when we walked pass by the bar, still people queueing for drinks, no wonder table service customers are completely ignored and rudely kept unattended. This pub should heavily improve their service and staff standard before open again to public. Otherwise, you will be the next unhappy customer walk out of door, without even being noticed. ...

Arrived and tried to get a table to be turned away because they were full. Asked about a table the following night to be told, without checking, that they were full again. Because there was no checking, we contacted them through Facebook and booked a table no problem. Arrived on the night to be told pizzas were off the menu. Ordered food and waited, and waited, and waited. In the meantime, others arrived and collected their takeaway order of pizzas !!!. Food arrived an hour after ordering. Finished our meal and went to pay and electronic till crashed. Bar maid had her tea break whilst we were there and had pizza !!! Oh yes, throughout evening, the place was empty. I'm sure the issues were due to the problems that all hospitality venues are experiencing at the moment - lack of staff etc. But being the 'only pub for the next 5 miles', we had little...

We were camping at the Grizedale Campsite over the May Bank Holiday weekend and decided to duck into this bar as the weather had turned a bit sour.

We called up ahead (as we were warned it may be busy) and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and helped us get a table as it cleared up.

The food was great - recommend their pies in particular! The veg were roasted well and had great flavour too which was nice. The Eagles Head ale was also on tap and a great light ale to go with the meal.

Overall - the pub also had a nice cozy atmosphere, welcoming and warming decor. Despite its age and somewhat low ceilings, the pub still felt spacious and despite it being busy it did not feel crowded.

If you are camping or visiting the area this is a great stop to recharge after a long day out or a big day...

Lovely little pub, only had drinks, we wanted to eat but chef not working that day, maybe next time we visit this beautiful area we will check out the food. I remember exactly the date of our visit as it was our wedding anniversary 14th April 2021, we had passed the day before on our bikes on the way from Grizedale, we stopped and asked if we needed to book and we were told no need. So next day on our anniversary we decided to hike from our campsite and arrive at the Eagles Head for celebratory lunch. When we arrived the very pleasant young lady told us that unfortunately they were not serving food as the chef was not there. We made the most of it though, wine and crisps, but we were disappointed. We will come again one day, as I said its a lovely little pub in a gorgeous place 😊

Wonderful pub, food was excellent with multiple veggie options which was a very pleasant surprise! Very out of the way and a very small car park so may need to park up the road if it's busy. Pizza was excellent and beef lasagne satisfied one of the most discerning lasagne eaters I've had the pleasure of dining with. Some instruments on the wall and a piano so I assume they do live music sometimes. Looks family, dog, walker, everyone friendly. Pictured is Bob the pub dog, he likes chips and ice cubes, he is the goodest boy.

Two great evenings spent in the pub while camping near by. Service was excellent. Very attentive and efficient. Spilt a pint, and another one arrived soon after to replace it. Inside was fully booked, space was made for us outside under an electric heater. Food wise, pizza was okay, burger satisfactory….. but as mentioned in lots of other reviews the steak pie was exceptional! Would definitely recommend it as a venue to spend an evening while staying near by. Top marks!
