After a day walking around Delamere Forrest, and then a game of cricket, I was hungry when we got to The Farmers Arms. Service was great and friendly, and the beer garden was clean and nice, which is important as we had the family dog with us. My girlfriend and I ordered Pie & Mash with gravy, others in our party had Curry, burger and chips, sausage and mash, and fish and chips. Everything but our pie was well presented, and looked lovely. Our pies however were not pies. We had a small bowl of what seemed to be Bolognese meat, with some mash and a couple of flakes of cheese on top, with maybe a table spoon of peas, and no gravy. It was advertised as Pie with either chips or mash, with gravy and peas. It was extremely disappointing to get what we did, and we felt pressured into eating it, as we had been told the kitchen was soon closing, we were starving after a long day, and we were going back to the campsite, and tent.

Read moreFarmers Arms to the rescue! Me and my partner had been at my friends wedding 10minutes away from The Farmers Arms and our air bnb for the night... we got dropped out of our taxi next to the pub and told the driver wouldn't take us to our Airbnb as he couldn't find it. We walked a mile up the road in the rain and couldn't find it so we went to the pub for help. We had bags and wedding flowers to preserve so the kind owners offered to keep the flowers in water overnight for us to collect the next day. They pointed us in the right direction and eventually we found our place for the night! The next morning we returned to the fresh flowers and help to get back to our car at the wedding venue. Although we didn't eat or drink here (the menu sounds lovely) we just wanted to say a massive thank you to the most kind pub owners we have ever met! They cannot do enough for you and friendliness goes a long...
Read moreDog friendly pub with a nice seating area outdoors too... staff were polite and friendly. It was quiet when we went. Myself and partner visited here after going Delamere Forest with the dog and reading some positive reviews. We both ordered the Gammon, we were quite disappointed though. The gammon was very thin and hard and the fat on the outside of it was not cooked properly and was grisly, my partner couldn't eat all of his gammon. We were asked if it was OK a few mins into getting it, hadnt tried the gammon by then, but didn't like to complain about it after we'd already been asked. They were good...
