I had seen the 1 star review and I felt I should leave a review partly in response to that person (as their review is completely ridiculous) but mainly because the farrier is amazing. I have at times attempted to book and unfortunately they have already been full. Granted its disappointinh but thats because of how popular they are. When ever I have emailed asking a question I always have a prompt response. If I was to walk in and be turned away as I had no reservation that's no fault of the farrier but my own. If I could give this place 100 stars I would I've been lucky to manage to eat here a couple of times and each has been amazing, the atmosphere, the staff, and the food. My most recent experience they went above and beyond I took my best friend as a surprise for her birthday and she was greeted with a happy birthday sign on the table plus a birthday card from the farrier team, These little gestures just show how much they care and respect their customers. If you want outstanding food and outstanding service this is the place to come. Highly recommend booking to avoid disappointment! I still dream about the creme brulee ... incredible!!! Thanks everyone at the farrier!!

Our second wonderful stay at The Farrier this year. Consistency is the key to quality and the team of staff at The Farrier make this possible. Welcoming us back with warmth and friendly hospitality made our wedding anniversary feel very special. The attention to detail in the rooms, and throughout the whole building are incredible. The food is just amazing, fresh local ingredients transformed into beautiful well balanced flavoursome dishes, presented with care and skill. The breakfast choice is superb and cooked to order, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are beautifully appointed, beds huge and comfortable and the housekeeping staff brilliant at making you feel comfortable. Even the quality of the sound system and playlists are excellent throughout the bar and restaurant areas. The Cocktail bar and new veranda are fantastic places to relax and chat over a drink or two. Danni and her team of devoted staff are building an incredible experience and a magical place to stay. Book early!

Cracking resteraunt that has only opened recently. Dec 18. Saturdays you have to book 3 weeks in advance. I would always book ahead regardless. The refurbish build g, now complete after 4 years, is beautifully appointed. Tasteful, modern and above all quality throughout. Parking is limited, so be mindful of that, but don't let it put you off. The menu is minimalist, but that's perfect for a resteraunt of this quality. The saying less is more, is spot on here. The food is seasonal, and fantastic. We had a main and a desert. That was more than enough. Very stylishly presented, but with plenty on the plate. Best food I have had for sometime. The deserts are amazing. The Farrier caters for most desires and covers anything from breakfast to a full blown meal out. It also has accommodation. If you want a coffee and one of many ice reams and cakes, then this is also perfect for a visit, especially after a long walk. Brilliant resteraunt, that I will highly recommend to friends and family.

We have just enjoyed our fourth amazing stay at our home from home. All decorated beautifully for Christmastime. All of the staff are a delight, so professional/polite and warm in everything they do. The food/drinks - lunch, dinner and breakfast were just outstanding as always and the courtesy mince pies and mulled wine was a lovely gesture. We adore your hotel and look forward to our future visits with you. Highly recommend this fantastic hotel, see you again soon xx

UPDATE

Unable to post a new review so will add to a previous one.

Just completed another two night stay at 'The Farrier'. We've lost count of the amount of our stays and restaurant visits, but this boutique hotel/restaurant is the best without a seed out doubt. We travel and visit hotels/restaurants both for business and pleasure purposes on a regular basis and nothing comes close to this establishment.

The Hotel itself, furnishings, decor, rooms, beds, bedding, attention to detail, toiletries, the little touches - complimentary toothbrushes/shaving razor/room spray/cotton wool/buds/chocolates to name but a few is not the norm and is outstanding. Every part of the hotel/grounds is immaculate and scrupulously clean.

The restaurant food is simply beautiful, impeccable and delicious and does not compare to other restaurants. It should be noted that all of the food, starters/mains/desserts is cooked fresh to order from scratch not pre-cooked and re-heated like the majority of restaurants these days so as the saying goes 'Patience is a virtue'. Sit back, relax and enjoy !

The members of staff/family are also the making of 'The Farrier'. Everyone is so polite, helpful, courteous and personable. We can not fathom the odd minute negative (sometimes ridiculous) reviews that have been posted on Google and Trip Advisor.

It should also be noted that these are incredulously difficult times for all businesses in this current economic climate due to running costs/other factors etc. These precious places should be cherished.

We highly recommend The Farrier, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!! We look forward to seeing you again in December. Until then, thank you again for your hospitality - a most memorable and thoroughly enjoyed visit once more. Keep doing what you do best, never change, keep your heads held high !

Take care. Love...

What an absolutely fabulous place to stay, eat or enjoy a few drinks. It was after seeing the Farrier on Four In A Bed on tv that made me book for lunch on a day over at the coast. We loved it, the good, surroundings and service were all superb, we were even allowed to bring our 2 cockapoo dogs to a dog friendly eating area. We therefore did not hesitate to book to stay overnight for an evening attending the Open Air Theatre. Our room, Black Beauty is the nicest pub hotel room we have ever stayed in, it would not be out of place in a top London 5 star hotel. In fact the room is nicer than some of the top London hotels. Attention to detail of the lovely surroundings is beautiful. It was a warm evening and we even had the use of a fabulous Dyson fan. The room was elegant, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. The designers of this hotel and restaurant should be extremely proud. The book in the bar upstairs showing the transformation from the original Blacksmith Arms pub is so interesting as is the Four In A Bed book showing The Farriers time on the show in such a great book. The food is excellent, again better than a top class restaurant, beautifully presented and exceptional to eat. All of the above is fabulous but the wonderful staff just make the whole experience top class and unforgettable at The Farrier. The staff are all professional, polite, helpful, nothing is too much trouble and are friendly making you feel like a friend. I wish The Farrier was nearer to home so we could visit much more often. Be proud of yourselves everyone at The Farrier, you are...
