Booked well in advance. No parking in car park, very little option to park in village, drove around it at least 4 times looking for safe place to park.
Wife and kids went in while I was trying to park. Pretty much had to sit her self down at a table with 2 kids being told by staff that will do. (We had booked).
The table we were sat at was that sticky the serviettes were stuck to the table, kids found it entertaining.
Beer was good no complaints with that.
They were busy when we 1st entered so will give staff some grace.
We ordered the food server had become more interested in it raining outside then concentrating on taking the food order. Me and my wife wondered if she had even got it written down?
Starters and kids mains meals took ages to get to table kids became restless. One of my children ordered pizza, what came to the table was a piece of bread with cheese and tomato sauce, she ate it but it was not enough. We were offered chips with it but our kids do not like them.
Adults starters came out, wife chose prawn cocktail, it was pushed in front of her with server saying prawn salad? Joke. 5 prawns swimming in sauce on a plate with stale bread and salad with dressing on it, it looked disgusting. Can't be bothered to do it? Why put it on menu My starter came out with completely wrong sauce same side salad.
Kids had finished there mains at the same time we had finished starters and were now wanting dessert before adults mains had hit the table.
Mains arrive both roasts, pile of what looks like frozen veg on a couple of anemic roast potatoes with slices of roast beef to thick for cutlery to cut through. I asked for horseradish to try and help save this dinner they gave me a pot of hollandaise sauce?
I'd had enough. I sent food back and told them I was not satisfied.
To be fair the server did sympathise knocked the food correctly from the bill and we only paid for drinks, server offered a voucher and was willing to change the food.
We were not willing to wait for food to be changed based upon what we had already experienced and politely declined the food voucher.
Nice building in Nice quiet village, beer was good, service better towards the end but food was not good.
Won't be going back anytime...
Read moreWe were quite wary of going out for food following Covid-19 however we decided to bite the bullet today. We called this morning and booked a table for 4 (2 adults, 2 children aged 9 and 6). We asked for a spacious table as our children like to bring colouring if we go out for a meal and sometimes this can make the table overcrowded!
We arrived at 1pm to the owner waiting to greet us at the door. All staff had face masks on, it was mandatory to use hand gel at the door (this was provided by them) and there was also hand gel on each table. Single use menus were provided and our details were taken in case they need to contact us regarding contact with covid-19. This was really well thought out and I felt safe at all times. All staff and patrons were following social distancing guidelines. The pub itself is cosy yet modern. Very clean and comfortable.
Both the children's and adult menu had a good variety but not too much (some eateries overdo their menus and do a bit of everything to an average standard but nothing stands out). The children's menu specified a main and one side but my daughter wanted mash and beans with her main. I asked the waitress (owner) if this was ok, I was happy to pay extra for this. She said this was absolutely fine and did not charge us any extra. We ordered a lamb shank with dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal veg, pork belly with mash and seasonal veg and for the children; pizza and chips and chicken goujons, mash and beans. The child's pizza appeared to be homemade, the goujons were tasty and both were large portions. I would have been happy with these portions myself! Both adult meals were delicious, perfectly cooked and well presented. The food isn't cheap, but nor is it expensive. It is good value for the quality that was presented. Overall a 5/5 from us and we will definitely return. The banter with the waitresses was spot on and customer service is a huge part of a meal out. I also noticed that all of the staff were very welcoming to the children and made an effort to include them in the conversation and the order. If I could add one pointer is it would be great if there were a few children's desserts on the menu. Thank you for looking...
Read more30th Birthday Party, The Fox at Farthinghoe…………………Got the order completely wrong and tried to blame us saying phone order was 11 Chicken meals, not 7, but they laid 23 places not 26 as they stated, they are too stupid to even lie properly. Sprouts and parsnips were not cooked at all, rock hard, adults could not even put fork in and cut with knife let alone the kids!!!!! Staff did not handle complaint very well at all. I am a buyer by trade and know how to handle people, incorrect order, products not up to standard etc etc, they just did not want to know or own up that they were in the wrong, One girl was left without a meal due to their error and they only offered her chicken and that was it when she pre-ordered beef!!!!! One meal came without Cauliflower and another without Yorkshire Pudding. Brought Birthday Cake (30th) and with all this fiasco of asking for the owner's number and not able to get through because the Manageress was on the phone to him warning I would be calling they completely forgot about the cake, people had paid and left and then they brought it out, she will never regain a happy evening out with family and friends for her 30th, absolute disgrace. All they would do was take £3 off the meal, absolute joke, they gave her a bottle of bubbly, did not ask how they could rectify the issue, she is pregnant and not able to drink!!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS, 23 people will not be returning and everyone they know as word of mouth and social media is strong, they do not appear to care as they...
