The FoxCover Ashington — Restaurant in England

I have been here before and the food was really nice and the staff were brilliant HOWEVER, I have been TODAY and I am disgusted. I ordered a hot chocolate and it was like drinking water, no hot chocolate hardly at all. I sent it back and he said he added more chocolate but it tasted exactly the same. I also ordered a pot of tea and the cup was also dirty so sent it back. He then gave me a glass like the hot chocolate one and it was absolutely filthy he then took it away and forgot all about my cup so I waited for a while until I had to ask for it. The glass was still filthy. I tried to clean it myself but I just couldn't. I then went back myself and got a takeaway cup. This was received with attitude. The food finally came it was not great and it was extremely greasy. The kitchen staff member and the one barmen were having a conversation and swearing when there was children with us and other families on the bar. Absolutely appallingly. Then another male came into the pub with his child (presuming) and himself and the cook then continued to swear appallingly and discussing about the women they were texting and going for a drink with them and just acting disgusting. Myself and my family will never go back to this pub, it's not appropriate for kids with staff like this and as for the food I would not recommend. This is the second time j have been back and my god it was unbelievable! Proper up’d their game! Burgers and Parmos next level well done guys

Old review : **It just started bad as soon as we ordered drinks. Young lad behind the bar started serving us and just went off to talk to another member of staff and completely forgot he had started serving us. Should have been a sign Food came and it was a disaster:

Chicken nuggets and chips freezing, mac and cheese loaded fries (chips were warm which was a bonus but the mac and cheese freezing cold haha)!

Kids chicken burger freezing cold as well and you guessed it the chips also stone cold!

Burger ordered with chilli loaded fries, came cold burger and freezing fries no chilli or cheese! Don’t worry though they brought a bowl of chilli out which was hotter than the sun but tasted of absolutely nothing! Never had loaded fries which you need to load yourself with no cheese!

We were literally the second people in the place so wasn’t busy!

The manager didn’t really care, cold shouldered us once we complained and eventually got refund of total of £16 for the off the mac and cheese loaded fries and kids meal. Nothing else. No wonder the chefs didn’t really give a toss!

A huge shame… my fiancée and I have enjoyed food in here for over 2 years yet today I was given food sub par, my fish was so greasy and soggy it made me feel sick, I had to leave the batter in the end and try to finish my fish as I needed to eat as I hadn’t eaten and my sugars were starting to fall with having diabetes. I complained and the poor waiting staff had to go backwards and forwards, you could see the puddle of oil and the mush that was supposed to be the batter on the plate… I was offered a free dessert and was refused any kind of refund (even though I’d said to the waiting staff that even if it’s 1/2 price) as paying £14 for rank food isn’t on. Apparently the chef was the manager?? How can you manage a pub and kitchen whilst cooking? Clearly you can’t, I was told if have to wait until all checks were cleared before he would speak to me (which I think is shocking) if the chef prides himself on his food and is happy to send out that quality of food, I wonder what qualifications he actually has.

Won’t be coming back which is sad as it’s been a tradition popping in when we’re in ashington. I’ll be making sure all our friends we’ve recommended won’t be coming back either.
