As someone who enjoys dining out and trying new restaurants, I was extremely disappointed by my recent experience at The Galloping Horse. From the moment I walked in, I knew that this would not be a dining experience worth remembering. To start with, it was clear that the food at this establishment was not made fresh. Everything tasted as though it had been cooked from frozen, and lacked the depth of flavor and texture that comes with freshly prepared ingredients. The vegetables were limp and flavorless, the meat was dry and tough, and even the sauces lacked the vibrant, complex flavors that are characteristic of homemade cooking. I was thoroughly disappointed by the quality of the food, which left me feeling unsatisfied and wishing I had gone somewhere else. The chips were particularly bad. They tasted cheap and flavorless, like they had been purchased in bulk from a discount warehouse store. They were clearly not made fresh and lacked the crispy texture and salty flavor that makes them such a beloved side dish. I couldn't help but feel like I was eating something that had been thrown together quickly and without care. To make matters worse, the prices at The Galloping Horse were extremely high, especially given the low quality of the food. I felt like I was being ripped off, paying exorbitant prices for food that tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer for weeks. It's clear that this restaurant is more interested in making a quick profit than in providing its customers with a quality dining experience. Overall, I cannot recommend The Galloping Horse to anyone who is looking for a satisfying meal. The food is clearly not made with care or attention to detail, and the prices are far too high for what you get. Save yourself the disappointment and look for another restaurant that will provide you with a more enjoyable dining experience.

5 of us went last night for our department Xmas meal. 3 pre-ordered from the Xmas menu, 2 from the normal dinner menu and 1 didn't make it. Even though we didn't tell the staff till we were there that the group was 1 short, it wasn't a problem. (I'm assuming) the manager came over and checked our orders before sending to the kitchen then our food started to come out in a timely manner. No long wait between courses, just a nice steady flow. Staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. Food was fabulous. I had the steak - ordered it medium/well-done, it came well-done but I didn't mind (I'm still acclimatising to medium cooked steak 😁), chips were yummy, 2 big onion rings were plenty and a peppercorn sauce to go with. Other had scampi and chips, turkey dinners and a chicken parcel with potatoes and veg. Empty plates all round by the time we were finished! Desserts again were delicious and more empty plates followed. My only little niggle - and it's not even my niggle - was the pre-orders were part of a 4 course that included coffee and mince pie - and they never got this. It wasn't even offered, yet when they went to pay the staff member said 'so you had the 4 course Xmas dinner....'. As I say, doesn't matter to me as I don't like coffee and mince pies but they had paid for it so..... Anyway, all in all was a good night, well deserved for all our hard work this term! I highly recommend the London Road cocktails, they are scrumptious! Would definitely recommend The Galloping Horse for a good meal!

A thoroughly enjoyable Saturday lunch… We arrived at 1pm and found plenty of spaces in the car park, which was surprising for a Saturday - I imagine the roadworks could have something to do with that. We were immediately given a table and a warm welcome as soon as we entered, menus were given to us straight away and the drinks order was taken quickly too. We both had a pint of coke which was nice and refreshing, the drinks came really quickly! For food, I opted for the chicken and mushroom penne pasta from the lunch menu and my partner chose an egg sandwich on white bread with chips. My pasta was absolutely amazing, full of flavour and plenty of chicken and mushrooms amongst the pasta - It even came with two slices of garlic bread which is great for lunch menu prices, the garlic bread was delicious, soft yet crispy and had a slight barbecue taste to it, it was really good. My partner thoroughly enjoyed her sandwich and chips, I can’t comment on the taste as I personally don’t like egg! - I did try the chips though and they were lovely, flavoursome and a great texture. Leah, our server was particularly helpful and friendly, she got everything that we asked for very quickly and checked in on us to make sure everything was ok. Overall a very positive experience and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a good menu and tasty hearty food in a modern setting.

Really disappointed We were seated at our table and started to read through the Sunday menu left on our table only to have the waitress return an have it taken off us an abruptly told we couldn’t have that menu a given the regular one. Ok So we ordered 2 coffees an a soft drink the drinks came but the waitress had spilled in the saucer an on the sachets of sugar, so she apologised an said she would nip an get some sugar, great but she never came back. Soo eventually another girl came an we gave her our order an I asked for some sugar for my almost cold coffee by now. Our meals arrived, we ordered the steak an ale pie an a steak an chips, when the waitress brought out the last meal we asked for a glass of wine, yes no problem but never came back. Sooo I got up from my meal an went to the bar for a glass of wine and j2o an returned to our meal which we were very disappointed with the pastry was so hard you couldn’t eat it very easily we think it was frozen the veg was mashed carrot an turnip with cauliflower cheese an looked like Sunday lunch leftovers the steak was also under cooked definitely wasn’t medium rare more like very rare. Soooo no one came an asked if our meals was ok we were only asked if we were finished so the girl could clear our plates, we watched the barmaid bite a customers head off because she was too busy to make the drink he requested cause it was a bit more complicated than a pint an she was understaffed. Sooooo we asked to pay our bill when she eventually asked if everything was ok we told her it was just ok as we didn’t fancy our heads bitten off like the gentleman who asked for a drink. It cost just short of Ā£100 for 2x coffee, 2x j2o, 1x glass of wine, 2x steak an ale pies and 1 steak and chips an a lot of disappointment we politely paid but we won’t be back and certainly will...
