Lovely evening, nice aesthetics, plenty of parking, bustling but room for customers wanting food in the evening, the food was A+!! Lovely service, great atmosphere and reasonable prices.

The tempura king prawn starter was delicious! The 'dragon burger' (a chicken burger with brioche bun and various accompanying fillings) was huge! Came with proper chips and a side (usually char grilled corn on the cob), we were able to change the side and make the burger to our own taste.

Too full for pudding so can't comment on that, except to say there was a good selection. We also ordered chilled wine, which you can have in individual small bottles or a normal size bottle to share, depending on party size. The staff were happy to help us work out which was better for our pockets.

Pets welcome and outside facilities for those wishing to eat outside. I noted a smoking area with shelter and heating also.

I honestly can’t think of anything I didn't like. As I dont usually leave reviews, I thought I should, considering I'm a quite a picky madam. Nothing to complain about here and really enjoyable evening. Would...

Could not recommend this pub enough... excellent! My partner and i were staying at bridge lake farm and fishery which is around a 5 minute walk away from the pub. The first night we went they were not serving food but were more than happy to recommend places for us to eat and even booked a taxi for us. The pub they recommended had really good food but still was not as good as the george.

The next two nights we spent at the george, every single staff member was incredibly polite, helpful and comforting. They let us sit anywhere we wanted and even move tables to feel more comfortable while we ate. I personally suffer with anxiety and can honestly say this is the most comfortable meal out i have had in a very long time! The pub is dog friendly and yet still incredibly clean and hygienic.

Most importantly the food... the food was absolutely delicious, i love burgers and can honestly say the george burger is genuinely the best beef burger i have ever eaten. We will be going on holiday in the area again so so we can revisit the george.

10/10 atmosphere. 10/10 food. 10/10...

If I can give more than 5 stars I would!

Really good food (probably the best pie and mash I’ve ever had…ever!). Service was spot on - friendly, professional, helpful and savvy (always know what to say!). Great atmosphere - rustic charming 17th century low ceilings pub that’s spotlessly clean!

Beef bourguignon pie & mash: Flaky and flavourful crust - was expecting heavy full pie crust and was ready to leave it and eat the filling only, but was surprised at how delish (and not too heavy it was!). So ate it all together with the delish filling, tasty fluffy mash, sweet fresh carrots, beans, kale & red cabbage. All delish when drizzled with gravy. 5/5 and more!

Lamb burger & chips - Superb as well! Light fluffy brioche bun, with minty grilled welsh lamb patty (taste the char!), and skin on chips. Burger - 4.5/5; Chips - 4/5

Great selection on tap - if you can’t decide (or just want to sample more), there’s even a choice for a flight of...

Enjoyed a really good, convivial lunch at the George & Dragon: pub food executed very well. We both had excellent prawn cocktails with a slight kick to the sauce, and then two perfectly cooked steaks - one very rare, one medium - with crunchy onion rings and proper chips. The kitchen here knows how to cook. The pub itself is in a beautiful 17th century building with exposed beams and an old well built into the bar. Wood fires in the bar and dining room make for a lovely, cosy atmosphere. The staff are super-friendly and Dave, the landlord, recommended an excellent Italian red. Can’t recommend it enough. This is what country pubs should be like!
