We have visited this Pub many times over the years. We have mentioned it to countless people for Beer and Food. Lovely Beer Garden. Today myself husband and our Dog walked up through the Woods to visit. We were conscious of the Mud gathered on our boots so left the path and joined the road. Taking advantage of every puddle and dry area of grass on the way. By the time we got there the soles of our Boots were clean. There may have been marks on the top of them, but that was not from today. Had our footwear been very clarty, we would have either taken them off, or not gone in. As soon as we reached the Bar a gentleman approached us and asked to put blue plastic boot covers on our feet. On telling him the soles were clean he said they are scruffy. I might add his boots did not look very clean. We had to stand in a pub with this annoying chap pulling them over our zboots. For a rural pub, in a big walking area I was astonished, we have never experienced any thing like that before. The said Jobs Worth really needs to consider that some people have a brain of their own. I said we are going outside, he replied," yes but you have got to walk across the carpet to get there. Looking back as to where we walked in, there was no trace of any mud on the floor. When we got outside and saw the new addition of the "Muddy boot box" we could not believe it. We had two rounds of Beer, which could not be faulted, but do feel this chappie was over the top. We will visit again, but not if he is in...
Read moreLovely little pub with a good beer selection but appalling treatment of staff by the presumed landlord. Went for drinks with friends and was served by a very sweet young lad behind the bar who was doing a great job though appeared a little flustered. The reason why was quickly apparent. The young barman addressed "Mark" perfectly politely to tell him what he planned to do next and Mark's response was a rude and snappy set down in which he humiliated the young man in front of a number of customers waiting at the bar by criticising his pint pouring. My face was hot with embarrassment on the young man's behalf and I wish I'd had the balls to say something. After leaving my husband said he'd overheard a number of other similar instances throughout the hour we were there. There is no need to treat your staff with such rudeness and contempt on any occasion but it is particularly unprofessional to do so in front of customers. Really put me...
Read moreThe pub is in Hudswell, 2 and half miles from Richmond, North Yorkshire. Warm welcome to the George & Dragon pub; and we arrived as doors was opening. Hubby and I had lunch outside as it was a a beautiful day & lovely views. Can only eat on tables on top tier if eating outside. Quite a few people came in at 12pm. Relaxing atmosphere. I had the pulled prk& bbq sauce roll with chips and colslaw( couldof done with a bit more bbq sauce),& my hubby had the same but with cheese and pickle. Both cost £18 reasonable price. I tried cask ale for the first time, Ruby mild, a coke and lemonade cost £6 reasonable again. There are steps to enter the pub. A nice pub, I will go back again when I'm next...
