We emailed here on 19th September to ask if they had any availability. Received answer the same day saying they had a room free on room only basis. I replied asking if we could have it for 4 nights from the 23rd.||Did not get anything confirming booking until 21st. We were flying in from Spain and it seems everyone in UK is staycationing, so virtually nowhere has any availability.||We arrived, shown room and had meal in dining area.||We arranged breakfasts at another pub nearby as George doesn't do breakfasts. ||We're told if we needed any thing like towels or tea, to put towels or teapot outside door.||Reason for UK visit was to try and organise care for hubby's father, so rather stressful.||Nothing was said about what to do when we were leaving. We left on Monday morning, there was no one around, we even called back after breakfast to check.||Then when we were on way home from airport in Spain on Tuesday afternoon I get a call asking for payment. Not convenient for me at that time. Arrange that they will call next day.||Then get an email asking me to call them at 11. They are the ones wanting payment, yet I have to call them !!!!!||I called at 11.20 Spanish time, was told Sonia was not available so could I phone back. Again who is it who wants paying????||It wasn't convinent to call back, so they took my details.||Later I get another email asking me to check details I had given them.||I was not impressed with their total lack of information, we weren't told their opening hours, infact told there's always someone about. Nor at paying £75 a night for a room where you can only occasionally get toilet to flush and there were cobwebs. No linen changes, no bed making.||No...

Read moreOur first visit to The George Inn at Donyatt, we've drove by it time's going to other places and it always looks such a nice place. We decided to have lunchtime meal there to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed, beamed ceilings, log burner and brick fireplace, farm tools and pictures on the walls cosy and oldie worldy with friendly locals just how we like our pubs.
The staff and owner were really friendly, polite and chatted to us as if we locals from the village, the waitresses were smartly dressed, polite attentive always smiling, cheerful, charming and chatty. Even the chef nodded and smiled to us the couple of times he walked through and the bar and table areas were spotlessly clean.
Our meals starters and mains were absolutely fantastic and amazing as was the presentation, they were hot good amounts of food with tender succulent meats and vegetables and the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and light and have never had better.
There's a good selection of beers and I had local ale which was amazing, clear, cool with a nice head and tasted like nectar.
We will definitely be coming back soon and we can definitely recommend this pub, restaurant and hotel to family, friends, neighbours and anyone.
A very big well done and thank you to the owners, all the staff especially the chef, please please please keep this pub the way it is, it's an absolute treasure and gem of a place to find. YOU ALL MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY VERY SPECIAL
Especially in these times when a majority of local village pubs are closing down and being turned into houses or flats, we must all support our local village pubs like...
