Not a great experience here unfortunately - despite booking in advance for a Sunday roast we turned up and staff pointed us to our table, which had spilt drink all over it and was not set up. We sat down expecting someone to clean this, but even when coming over to ask for our drinks order it didn’t look like anyone was going to give it a wipe. We eventually had to ask…even then nobody came back to wipe it so we had to get napkins and clean it ourselves. This was not a great start, but we were hoping the food might make up for it! Sadly this wasn’t the case - we ordered the lamb and beef. Whilst the beef was a bit better, the lamb was not edible and only had maybe one mouthful of meat and the rest was fat. I expect this is because we had our table booked for late lunch (about 4ish) and maybe we got whatever was left, but really I think we should have been told there was not lamb left and offered the beef or pork instead. Both meals were also not very hot and given we were in the back bit of the restaurant which is not as warm as the main bar, it went cold very quickly! When the bill came we were charged 15.95 for the lamb instead of 14.95 listed on the menu but at this point we just wanted to leave. I rarely leave a bad review. Despite our experience the staff were smiley which is a plus and I think there’s a lot of potential - would go back to the main bar for a drink but not...

We were quite disappointed when visiting this pub. We had booked a table of 7 for 12.30. Upon arrival we were not greeted. It didn't feel very welcoming, unless we asked a question we barely got a look from any of the staff. Our food took over an hour to arrive. We had three children under the age of 10 with us, who found the long wait distressing. I ordered the pork - it was tough, and the fat was inedible. The yorkshire pudding was good as were the potatoes and veg. The gravy tasted like a shop bought mix. It was alright but not good for the money. Unfortunately, with the children's roast - they had smeared butternut puree all over the bottom of the plate, with all the food on top of it - I'm sure they thought they were being chefy, but my daughter barely touched anything on her plate because of it. We were given some money off and a free round of drinks and the chap that dealt with that was pleasant and caring. He really was the only person who seemed to know what was going on. Everyone else seemed inexperienced. No one came to ask us if the food was alright. We had to ask for sauce and were only given one small pot of horse radish for a whole table. We even had to ask twice for our bill. The atmosphere was dull. There was no music, the table looked boring. The toilets were nice, and clean. But overall, big shame. Won't...

Knowing how busy the pub gets I booked 3 weeks prior to the Sunday I wanted to go with friends. When we arrived our table was stuck in the middle of the bar with 3 stools as if for a picnic. When booking a Sunday lunch I expect to have a proper chair to sit on. I asked if there were chairs but was told there were none. All the chairs at other tables were reserved and they were for elderly customers so we could not have any. We did decide to stay as it fitted in with our plans and thankfully the meal was good but not quite the ambience we wanted sitting on stools. When the 'elderly people' arrived they were half our age and some children. How did they know when I booked by phone that I was not elderly and qualified for a proper chair. (I am 65 plus) If they do not have enough chairs they should not take the bookings or warn people they may be sitting on stools so they can chose if they want that option. Sorry I so wanted to enjoy this meal as it is local to me but we were made to feel inferior to...

Cannot thank the George Inn enough for hosting our Wedding Party last night. Pete and the team were amazing, so friendly and accommodating with all our requests and so helpful throughout the planning stages of our party. The venue is fun and relaxed in a great location and perfect for the type of party we wanted. The private bar & private room upstairs is a great space and very easy to dress and make your own. It also led out to the decking and garden and was perfect for our big arrival in the sunshine. Buffet food was also fantastic as we're the drinks selection. We had the best time and would highly recommend The George Inn to anyone looking for a wedding party venue.

This is our first visit post pandemic, and I’m glad to say it did not disappoint. We had the beef and pork for Sunday roast and shared a dessert. The venue looks amazing and has such a warm atmosphere, however, the main attraction, as always, should be the food. Both roasts hit the mark, super tasty and they came out very quickly, so as long as you book, there should be no waiting around. We had a colly cheese as an extra, that was spot on too!!! All I can say is… We will be back to try the other options on that menu, as soon as possible, I look forward to seeing you all at the George Inn. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Our first visit to The George Inn we had trouble getting a reservation for a Sunday roast. The landlord was very friendly over the phone and even though his bookings were full he kindly booked us in. We ordered the Pork and Beef. It was so succulent and the vegetables were tasty in a caramelised onion gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was good too. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed it and we were quite full. My only criticism is we had to wait to get tucked in as we had no cutlery. Also if you like a pudding there was very little choice. Therefore we didn't have one. It also has a nice atmosphere
