We are moving to Alderbury soon and recently visited this pub while checking out the area, and we were pleasantly surprised! The refurbishment has been done beautifully – the place feels warm, cozy, and really inviting. The atmosphere was spot on, with gentle background music that made it a lovely setting for lunch. The food was delicious ,the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It really felt like a place where you could happily spend time with family and friends. We honestly cannot wait to move and have this as our local! Excited for many happy times here in the future.

Service was great the food was ok. I had the brie, mushroom & spinach Wellington. It was a bit gritty and not much brie. The taste was a bit bland and the gravy made the pastry soggy. My husband's meal of mussels and chips was nice though. The chips were really crispy. We shared a sticky toffee pudding and asked for ice cream, but it came with custard and ice cream. It was tasty but not as rich as expected. I think we might have been given the syrup pudding instead.

The Green Dragon has recently re-opened under new management and they’ve done an incredible job in refurbishing it. Gorgeous terrace for sitting in the sunshine. The food is delicious. I had the Gnocchi with wild mushrooms and butternut squash purĂ©e and it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I really recommend the lemon tart too. The staff were attentive but not intrusive and nothing was too much trouble. I definitely recommend it.

You only really have to look at all the recent reviews to see how good this place is. I was served the most indulgent prawn and crayfish pasta- the pasta was homemade as was the accompanying bread, and everything was cooked freshly. It's a wonder the owner turns over a profit such was the quantity and quality of the seafood. There was a delightfully piquante sauce with fresh tomatoes and a rocket salad and there were nice touches- a staff member bringing a jug of iced water with lemon when I was unsure if I wanted another pint; offering to box up what I couldn't finish (it was a generous portion and I am a big chap who was at the end of a 25 mile cycle on a breakfast of pears and water). This was a Tuesday early lunchtime when you might expect less variety but the menu was great. The sloping garden was magical in the sunshine, overlooking south Wiltshire and full of birds and butterflies. I can't wait to go back and try their pies (homemade pastry!) and fish of the day....

Called in by chance and enjoyed the most amazing dining experience for many years. Absolutely faultless from the friendly welcome to the last bite of lunch. My wife had the fish and chips. Portion size was spot on and the chips were perfect with fish in crispy batter and delicious tartare sauce. I enjoyed the Moroccan chicken, stunning! Having said all that what made our experience so special was the service. Good service is such a rare commodity and while some restaurants have the odd star The Green Dragon obviously takes training their staff very seriously. The attention to detail was consistently outstanding and what was obvious was how happy they were in their work and that just leads to a brilliant atmosphere. That’s it I’ve run out of superlatives! Well done the new management for setting the bar so high and we can’t wait to see you again. Go and remind yourself what good service and delicious food are like...

We went there for a birthday meal yesterday evening. The pub was fairly busy with a few locals having a couple of pints at the bar. Once seated, drinks orders and food orders were reasonably quick but then food took 45 mins or more to come out, which was a long time to be waiting. During the wait, no one came over to ask if we’d like some more drinks which was disappointing. Once food arrived it was delicious (I can attest to the mussels and beautiful sauce) but once finished, it took them a while to clear the table and ask if we wanted any more drinks or anything. Eventually we did have to call someone over as they had seemingly forgotten about us.

If you’re happy to be kept waiting a long time then do pop along because the food is delicious, otherwise you might be better...
