I was recommended this pub for Sunday lunch. We moved from the large dining area because my mother found it difficult to hear and the blue room where we were taken to was very cold with no radiators on. We moved again to the bar area beside an unlit fire. Several members of staff who were extremely friendly tried to light it but because it was so full of ash they simply couldn’t so we remained cold wearing our coats. The food took 45 minutes to arrive admittedly we did arrive before our booking but nobody mentioned we would have to wait at all and happily took our order at 12.50 ish and the food arrived at 1.35 pm ish! The meat was tender, the parsnips undercooked the roast potatoes had no chance of being crisp and fluffy as the whole meal arrived piled up in a heap! It beggars belief that anyone however good or bad they are in the kitchen would put a so called roast potato underneath all the vegetables and meat and (not in our case as we ordered it separately) gravy as well and think that it would remain crispy. The best way for anywhere to serve a Sunday lunch is not plated up but the meat and Yorkshire pudding on a warmed plate and then the roast potatoes, vegetables and gravy served separately. I couldn’t fault the staff who were willing and friendly but the owners need to take a good hard look at their customer comfort. It’s unlikely I...
Read moreWe walked into this pub on the Sunday of August Bank Holiday weekend they were very busy but we asked if they had any spare tables and room for 4 more customers for dinner. We were very late for dinner but the land lady told us they could accommodate us providing we didn't mind waiting for our meals .So we sat outside in the sun but were served with drinks by a very nice and polite waitress almost immediately. She took our food order very shortly afterwards after us thinking we might have to wait for a while, but no .After a little while the sun went in and we thought it might rain so asked if we could sit inside. They accommodated us very nicely and polite with no problems. We started to notice the food coming out to other customers looked very good with very nice size portions .We also started to notice they were well staffed with all of them being very polite and jolly even though they were busy.We ordered more drinks and our food came out too .1 word for our meals WOW .To sum up ,the service was fantastic, our meals were great and cooked to perfection .Great value for money We only waited overall, even though we might have to wait for food about 40mins .Fantastic pub and Thankyou and we'll done to the land lady ,The chefs and all the Staff at The Green man...
Read moreI cannot speak more highly for this pub! I visited last week to meet my parents half way between our homes as we havent seen each other in ages and we thought this would be a good meeting point. First off, walking in, it has clean and bright vibes regardless of the rain we had that day. The staff were super polite. We ordered the mackerel pate to start, absolutely gorgeous! We then had the sea bass and the battered cod for our main. Now, when I say it was delicious, I really really mean it. I had the bass and it was soft, cooked perfectly and the green beans and potatoes complimented it so well. I forgot the name of our server, but she was fantastic. Polite, met our every need, engaged in conversation with us and was so lovely! We will be using this spot to meet in the future as it was a great visit. Highly recommend. Wine prices were really good and the lunch was very well priced. Thank you for having us! (Sorry I dont have any pictures of the food, I enjoyed eating it far too much...
