This pub is not a Greenking pub which the outside signage suggests it is one of the Bucan group. It also charges a service charge at 12% which at any pub/restaurant is ridiculous when there are only 2 or even 4 of you. There was 2 of us this time and we walked in, it was a bit awkward the 'host' said hi then he stood in front of us as usually the host are welcoming enough to continue to say are you eating here we broke the silence by saying table for two, then the dreaded question have you book (the restaurant was empty). We said no. He pick up 2 menus said casually that's our offers today and asked for our drinks order I said vodka and coke and gat a strange glare and the other person said coke, as the host walked away he said loudly what was that mixer you asked for in your vodka? And I have to pay 12% service charge for this type of service. We ordered our food and another couple came in to the restaurant a little more glamorous than us, myself being over weight and the other person dressed smart casual. There service was a little different and they had not booked either they were not only shown to their table but the host the proceeded to tell them about the deals and his recommendations not just shove then the menus. He also suggested wine or perhaps water for the table... we did not get a choice... The food was ok the chips were dry and the small half of lobster came with a small ball of pea shoots whereas a side salad would have been more appreciated for the amount paid but nothing was exceptionally for the price and we asked for sauces and they were the sparingly smallest amount you could have recieved. No I will not be returning so the manager need not reply to this honest...

After three visits, I can honestly say third time wasn’t just lucky but great. My first visit was good, the second not so good, but after leaving some feedback I was really pleased to see it was appreciated and taken on board. So the third visit was an absolute pleasure. After a lovely warm welcome, we were seated at a nice cosy table. A little gripe we had on our last visit was the quality of the service being a little inexperienced, but I can honestly say that the service was excellent this time around. Attentive and friendly but also well informed as their suggestion of a red Chianti to go with our meal was spot on as it had a great body and brought out the flavour of our rich meal. The starter of steak tartare was deliciously soft and the rich yolk, herbs and croutons brought out the flavour of the raw meat beautifully. The main was a 220g red poll flat iron steak aged for 45 days, cooked medium rare you could taste the juicy tenderness and quality of the beef in every bite. The pepper sauce added a little kick to the meat and soft mushroom was perfectly balanced out with large crunchy fries to give every combination put on the fork a deliciously different texture. The perfect way to wrap up a great meal is with a great dessert and the sticky toffee pudding didn’t disappoint. Firstly it was a decent size and with a perfectly balanced scoop of ice cream slowly melting and mixing with the toffee sauce, every bite was a delight. With so many gastro pubs in and around Windsor and Bray you are spoilt for choice. But in terms of charming ambiance, friendly and informed service and amazing food I don’t think you’ll find better value for money. I’ll definitely be...

After several visits we were bitterly disappointed with the previous managements poor attitude, the food & the service. Thankfully, there are now new owners, new staff and new chefs & a new menu and its a great place to go now.

Having heard good things about the new owners & new menu we decided to try The Greene Oak again-and were very pleased we did. A totally new & different experience to before. The new owners really know their stuff and are friendly & informative and the meal was fantastic. From front of house, the service, the staff, the setting to the fantastic food- it was faultless.

We both had the mussels with scrumpy cider & garlic to start & the shorthorn T bone steak for two, chips and greens with broccoli & chilli & almonds. The food was amazing and we can honestly say the steak was the best we have had in the UK for a while.

Going off last nights performance, we would imagine this will very fast become a hugely popular gastro pub-we certainly cant wait to go back with friends to eat there again. There is really no comparison to The Greene Oak experience before- The new owners James & Jamie have everything right and are genuinely nice guys and that certainly comes across. Lastly our Greek waitress Maria was just great & deserves a special mention & thank you. We will be recommending this place...

Festive 3-Course Menu – Great Food & Service Visited Greene Oak for a Christmas work dinner and opted for their festive 3-course menu. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The event was well-organized with the tables set beautifully, and the service was excellent throughout the evening. Starters: I had the onion soup and a cheese croquette. The soup was okay, but I couldn’t finish it. However, the croquette—though there was only one—was absolutely delicious. Main: The beef shoulder with mash, veg, and braising sauce was the star of the meal. The beef was cooked to perfection, tender, and flavorful. It paired wonderfully with the mash and sauce. My only wish? A slightly larger portion. Dessert: The berry cheesecake was fantastic! It was well-balanced, indulgent, and I couldn’t find a single fault. Onsite car parking was a bonus, making the whole experience even more convenient. Would happily recommend Greene Oak for festive dining or any special occasion.

We had a great Saturday lunch at The Greene Oak, where the food is exceptionally good pub fare and the service warm and welcoming. We came as a foursome with two dogs and there was plenty of space for the dogs to settle so we could enjoy ourselves. Said dogs were immediately greeted with a water bowl and treats, so they were thrilled from the moment they stepped through the door. Like other Brucan Pubs, the food is great. Whatever you order, get triple cooked chips on the side. And the creamy corn and bacon is spectacular. High commendation for the Korean Chicken Burger, the Chickpea Katsu Croquettes and the Plaice Special. Having been around a little longer (I think?) than the rest of the Brucan Pubs estate, it's perhaps a little more tired in decor than some of their newer ventures. But they've set themselves a high bar with their work elsewhere and The Greene Oak is a fantastic choice compared to the local competition.
