Exemplary customer service that serves you like a warm hug from a loved one. Was greeted warmly by the staff, and they try to make you as comfortable as possible. Stuart and Milla were friendly, accommodating - and because it was the Euro Women’s Final, Stuart even went as far as to set up a TV just for us to enjoy the game in the back room (they had a large flatscreen in the front bar area). The Sunday Roast lamb meal was fabulous, albeit let down a bit by the flat yorkies, but the tenderness of the lamb is sublime. They have Fullers on tap, and because I am a pale ale drinker, the Sticky Wicket is the way to go. Good recommendation by Milla. Dessert was okay, because the Belgian waffle was slightly underdone in the middle, but the excellent caring service more than made up for it! Overall top marks for the entire team at The Greyhound! Will return again if I am back in the UK!

Lovely country pub with good quality, rustic pub food, nice friendly servers and a beautiful location. I stopped here on the way back from playing tennis in Pangbourne. The building is lovely and has a thatched roof and sits in front of a village green with benches for people to sit outside on the green with a drink if they want. It has outdoor seating at the front and back in a little patio or garden. The servers were really smiley and friendly- it really is so simple to run a pub well!

Very mediocre roast, especially for the price. It’s not a flex you can fit it all underneath a Yorkshire pudding. The beef was soft, plentiful and somewhat flavoursome, but the rest was poor. Four tiny incredibly soft roast (?) potatoes and the gravy was extremely thin, oily and salty. The other veg was unimaginative i.e. could do better at home. My partner’s roast gammon, looked more like a gammon steak. It’s a shame as I’ve passed this pub many times and I’ve always wanted to visit.

Ideal if you want a leisurely lunch. We had booked for eight adults plus toddler, in the event we found we were nine adults plus toddler and upon telling our host he seemed most put out! Had the place been frantically busy on a summer Sunday lunchtime we would have understood but to be met by grumbles that we'd be cramped at our table and they'd have to squeeze us in was not the greatest welcome. The surroundings were quirky, light and as long as you watch out for the low beams (which are padded) very pleasant. Through to the dining area we were seated at an amply sized table with sufficient chairs, everyone was comfortable and perused the menu. My husband had checked the menu online before visiting and had decided he would love to try the slow cooked beef lasagne, unfortunately the waitress had to explain most apologetically that the online menu belonged to the previous owners and was not available any more. We asked if there was a Sunday roast option as there was no mention on the menu and were told we could choose from Roast Gammon, Lamb or Beef. Three of us chose Gammon, three chose Beef and three chose burgers from the menu . There followed a long wait. After 45 minutes the waitress brought condiments and we were hopeful. After almost an hour we were finally served with our food.

The Gammon was tender, beautifully cooked and presented and served with tasty vegetables and a delicious gravy. The burgers were ok but had probably been kept warm for too long and had lost succulence. The toddlers bowl of chips were fine and there was plenty of tomato ketchup available. Sadly the Beef was very gristly and chewy, giving our diners jaws a good workout, the Roast potatoes were dissapointing too. Worst of all none of the food was piping hot. We gave up on any idea of staying for desserts or coffee as we couldn't be sure how long it would take, which is a shame as we usually love a pudding and especially a good espresso!

It might seem that we were being unreasonable expecting to have a party of nine adults plus one toddler served within an hour of ordering but we were not the only diners waiting for long periods. We witnessed a table of three waiting for at least an hour for desserts. Another couple dining together waited almost an hour for their mains and then almost as long to get their dessert order taken. The table service was good but is evidently let down by the kitchen. All in all there is great potential for this to be a great pub with excellent food but they need to get the...

The food is good but it’s a shame that the service isn’t so we won’t be returning to this place. We visited this pub on a bank holiday as a family with 2 little kids. In total we spent about 2 hours waiting between the 3 course meal we ordered. We found it annoying that the other tables around us came much later but were being served before us and I had to follow up for our starters. Despite this, there was a long wait for all dishes we ordered. When our desserts were served, we requested for spoons which weren’t sent to our table. We waited for at least 10 mins and eventually when our icecream melted away. I would understand if this was happening with all the tables but we couldn’t help but notice, on table next to ours, they had put spoons even before the dessert arrived. When I finally lost patience and complained to the manager, rather than receiving a sincere apology ( which is all I expected) I was told we weren’t served in the same way as other guests because others had an advance booking whereas we were accommodated on a walk in basis. I found this explanation very frustrating and felt unwelcome. If our custom wasn’t appreciated, they could have turned us away rather than giving us a bad experience especially when we had to 2 young kids to tend to, while waiting...

Lunchtime 20th December. Food was atrocious, service very poor, atmosphere unpleasant. We both had turkey from main menu (since it was christmas week and there was no actual christmas menu available) turkey was tasteless, mash potato was extremely lumpy, disgusting and like wallpaper paste - inedible. Whole meal tasted bland and was worse than any school dinner. Cranberry sauce came in the jar, already opened, poor presentation. The restaurant was so cold we sat with coats on. Staff tried to light fire 4 times & smoked us out whilst doing it. Failed to light fire so we remained cold and couldnt wait to get out of there to warm up. No customer service whatsoever. When we said the mash was lumpy reply was 'oh sorry'. When paying we commented that it was the worst meal we've ever had but there was absolutely no reaction at all - no words, just a stunned waitress who was working the shift singlehanded out front of house, taking money, cleaning tables, serving food, oh and trying to light a fire! Service charge was automatically added - needless to say we asked for it to be removed since the whole experience was so substandard. Far too expensive for the standard of food and service. Had dessert elsewhere. Will...
