F for customer service. Monday teatime, not many in at all. Ordered a pint of Guinness, half a diet Coke and two meals which would have probably come to about £26. Would have had another Guinness and most likely two desserts and coffees which I imagine would have hit the £40+ mark. Anyway, the half of Coke from the pump appeared flat, which I commented on and asked if they had a bottle instead. Happy to pay the price difference. Barmaid denied it was flat..."look you can see a few bubbles up the side of the glass". My wife tasted it and I tasted it; it was flat, without a doubt! Bar manager/landlord got involved and said it wasn't flat. He poured the Coke from a height into another glass so that it foamed up a bit and slammed the new glass down in front of us on the bar as if to prove a point. He said we could have a bottle of Coke but we would have to pay for the half of Coke already ordered because it wasn't flat! Unbelievable, so we left with him still repeating from behind the bar..."it wasn't flat". We went to the Green Dragon in Welton instead for good food and nice service; we spent our £40 there and will continue to do so. Been a local resident for 20+ years and have been using the Half Moon for a long time, for the most part when under the previous management who were always friendly and courteous. I'm not sure which school of customer service this joker went to but to lose money on a quiet Monday night, and ensure that local residents don't spend money in your establishment again, for the sake of the pennies that a half of Coke costs a bar is...
Read more2 of us booked as I heard it was nice and was really looking forward to trying here. We had 3 courses each and I was starving, my first 2 courses were fine, good pub grub. I ordered the sweet off the specials and unfortunately it was off, rancidly off. When they put it in front of me I could smell a horrible smell, I honestly didn’t think it would be the sweet so decided to try it, I had to spit it out. I could only describe the taste and smell as out of date cottage cheese and that is being polite. I did make the owner/manager aware and he took it away. He came back to say he had tasted it and it was fine, I explained it really wasn’t and even the smell was stomach wrenching but he continued to dispute this. His attitude wasn’t nice if I am honest. I was polite and discreet. Although he did not charge for the sweet I would suggest that maybe how he deals with customers and how he makes them feel should be addressed. I never, ever complain but when something is as off as this was I really do not expect the manager/owner to come out seem argumentative and then say there was nothing wrong with this. I just hope the sweet was taken straight off the menu as would have made someone ill. Such a shame as I left feeling very disappointed and I accept mistakes are made but due to the attitude I won’t be back nor recommend here due to how it...
Read moreBeen to half moon a fair few times now, but after last time, I would never go back, I ordered a pie for £16, which consisted of 6-7 oven chips and a small amount of veg, and a pie that just wasn’t up to standard, when I asked for a price reduction, not a refund in anyway, the manager was very unhelpful and refused to be cooperative in anyway, and indirectly told me that I must by lying because he’d tried the “batch” made pie a couple of days previous, meaning my opinion wasn’t relevant, the pie tasted of fish and the pastry was undercooked, i was extremely receptacle and polite, just a shame the manager couldn’t copy that, very disappointing for such...
