We were passing through Fellbeck in our motorhome, on our way to Grassington. Our good old sat nav took us on an old roman road to avoid a road closure.... it wasn't a road, it was a track, and as it was raining, it was muddy and wet. Our motorhome succumbed to the mud and we got stuck in a ditch. After getting no joy from our breakdown cover, no joy from a towing service, and being on hold to the police control room for over 30 minutes, I decided to phone the local pub. Colin (the landlord) was brilliant, he managed to find someone with a tractor and someone with a chain, and he came to us with Joe (the tractor man) and Adrian (the pub chef). With great care and attention (and in the dark might I add), they managed to tow us out of the ditch, and we went on our way. As it was now so late, we decided to head to the pub. Colin said we could sleep in our motorhome outside. We went and had a few drinks with Colin, Tracy and Adrian. Sadly Joe couldn't join us, as he was in his tractor and it was too far for him to go. We also decided to book a B&B room for the night. It was so cosy and warm, very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. These people saved us and we cannot thank them enough. We have already booked to return for New Year celebrations, when we hope to get to sample the main meals as well.
They say that the AA are the fourth emergency service, but no, the Fellbeck community are the fourth emergency service, especially The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was plentiful and every diner commented on the generous portions. Glad we just had a main and not a starter as I was fit for bursting. The gammon came with both egg and pineapple which should be the norm everywhere. The chips were well cooked and not looking like they were suffering from anaemia. I was surprised to see a nice selection of veg with my gammon. Veg can often be missing from āfrom the grillā dishes. The cabbage, carrot, mushrooms, and cauliflower cheese was well received. The usual beverages were on offer with lagers, bitters, and ciders. The pub is a village local serving the community and appears a popular watering hole for farmers and workers. Cards and dominoes available behind the bar and it looks like they have a darts and dominoes team playing in the local league. I did not see a dart board so that might have been in another room or hidden out of site during restaurant hours. If you are staying in the locality please visit this country pub and support the local community. Also, they are super dog friendly as long as your dog is well behaved and under control they are more than likely to get a tasty treat. The night we visited the landlady / bar staff had a little Romanian rescue dog wandering around. He was a happy little fella who kept himself to himself and I donāt suppose he would want to be pestered too much by bigger / fussy dogs. He sniffed our doggo, said hello, and then went back to sitting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were staying locally and came across this wonderful little pub whilst looking for somewhere to eat in the evening. Called up to book a table and they were able to fit us in. We were welcomed with a smile and the friendly service remained throughout. The pub itself was clean and inviting and it took us right back in time to how pubs used to be when we were younger. The menu was varied, providing everything from traditional 'pub grub' to Eastern and Italian influenced dishes. We ordered starters and mains, however if we had realised the generous sizes of the portions, we would have just opted for the mains. The food was served in good time and was absolutely delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout. We enjoyed our meals so much and were so impressed by the value for money, we booked in for the Sunday Carvery lunch. We returned for that and it was just as amazing as we'd imagined it would be. The meat was mouthwatering, plenty of fresh veg and the gravy was superb. Again the service was spot on by every staff member we came into contact with. Although we do not live locally, we will definitely be returning to this little gem - we'd be eating here regularly if we were a...
