For £15 a night; tent pitch with electric. The lady had no idea about camping; didnt show us round, she just wanted payment, we were just expected to know where everything was. We were not told, nor does it mention it on the website, that the train line is right next to the field you camp in; every half hour from 8.30am on sunday and around 6am in the week till quarter past midnight. The noise is horrendous! The ground is just mud. Cigarette butts left for us to pitch on top of. The pitches are thrown together; the toilet blocks are just a wood hut with one door nailed shut. We stayed 3 nights; I never once saw anyone come to clean the facilities. The mop and bucket left to wipe down the shower was filthy, the mop was left in very dirty water. I didnt take my shoes off to shower, nor could you rest any of your stuff on any surface in the bathrooms. The showers have no pressure and run for about 30 seconds and then switch off. They run hot and cold and do not keep a constant stable temperature; one of the showers doesnt drain water away properly (would say it was the baby changing room) so it just pours all out, round the toilet and to the door of the hut. Tried with the manky mop to prevent it but to no avail. If two people require a shower at the same time, you are lucky if it dribbles on your head. Even the taps had to be held with two hands so you could turn them on. If you tried with one hand the tap just span round. There was faeces left in a toilet, this was not cleaned off the whole time we were there. I would not bring children here as it is unsanitary. We have been to sites that are £7.50 a night with electric that are set up much better than this! They are charging too much for the pitches. If this is newly established it should be in tip top shape; i have seen cleaner cow sheds! They should make it clear about the trains on their website. Drove 6 hours to be kept awake by trains. It was not even mentioned to us when we emailed to book. I have added pictures. One shows a picket fence, the train line is literally the other side of it. Roughly (i think i am being generous) 40yards from where you pitch and sleep. This maybe suitable for stag weekends when you are too out of it to notice the mess you are paying to stay in but i strongly advise not to go for family vacations. Not enough room to tend to small babies and children, plus all the surfaces are dusty and some are grim. I think it is obvious we will...

We both eat here and stayed in the camping... Both were fab!

The camp site is really good, there's a mix of hardstandings for caravans, some with water and drainage others with electric and some with neither, all the pitches seemed to be pretty level though. There's also a big grassy field for tents, with a couple of hookups. Facilities are basic but good, 3 showers and about 7 loos, which was plenty even when it was busy on the August bank holiday. It's a chilled site but not necessarily peaceful.. it's on the main trainline and not far from a main road; there was a wedding on and a big group of campers which both had loud music - we really liked the atmosphere though and had no problems getting the kids to sleep. Expect if you ask when booking they'll know if there's anything on. Aside from that there was lots of free space for the children to play, which is what you want from a site like this really!

Pub was also very nice, it was busy the first day and we couldn't get a table to eat so book ahead. Did have a drink from the wide selection and the children played on the pirate ship in the garden. We managed to have dinner another night, was really nice and the place was clearly still very popular on a Tuesday night... Really great service and lovely food.

We ended up extending our stay as it was such a good place to chill out and the weather was lovely. Only down side was we booked for electrics but there wasn't any available when we turned up.

Expect they have big future plans for the site so make the most of things while...

From the moment we arrived we could not have asked for a warmer welcome. Now the owners, have only owned the pub/restaurant and adjacent caravan site for 6/7 months, so the caravan site is a work in progress. The showers are beautifully hot, the toilets clean and the pitches are level. Now as for the pub/restaurant, we cannot recommend highly enough. The food is outstanding, plentiful and priced fairly. The owner Ruth, and assistants Denise and Eve always serve with a cheerful smile and are always willing to have a quick chat. The chef and his team are brilliant and work tirelessly to present beautifully hot food which is totally delicious. Because I enjoyed a previous meal there, on our last night they went out of their way to repeat the dish, which wasn’t even on the menu - fantastic. We would rate our experience here as a 11/10. We were truly spoiled here and we...

Only one word to describe this Campsite “Grim”. Booked our campervan in for two nights for a pitch with EHU in November at £28 per night. At this price I expect a high quality pitch. Our hard standing pitch was small and surrounded by mud. We also discovered that a busy train line passes right through the bottom of the site which adds to the noise already generated by the nearby A1. As you will see from the pictures the facilities were disgusting and should really be condemned. We decided that we would only stay 1 night and left early the next morning. Sadly no one available to talk to raise our concerns. Avoid!
