Even though I've more or less accepted the fact that gastronomy in England is significantly different(worse) from mainland Europe, I still can't put up with the unhealthy greasy fast foods served in restaurants and pubs. My intention is not to be negative, so I rather praise things I enjoyed. Staff in The Hare & Hounds is very friendly and kind and in general, it's just proved me, that hospitality and kindness of people is on the opposite side as the quality of gastronomy in UK. Atmosphere is very local, decor traditional (old postcards on walls made me happy), with back garden full of additional seats, greenery and water elements. I enjoy everything except of a food. We ordered two sharers, both for around 28£ and ate almost everything, because we don't support food waste. Sadly, food wasn't good at all. Extremely greasy - swimming in oil, not creative, tasteless, bland. My stomach felt heavy until the next morning. Sauces were not bad. (Compared to fast food chains.) While I rate food 2/10, I would give staff and enviroment 9/10, so 3...
Read moreBeen here twice now, once in summer (sitting outside) and this afternoon (11th Dec, sitting inside).
On both occasions it has had a pleasant atmosphere and great table service.
The pub has contemporary decor of a high quality and homely vibe.
Food is excellent, I've been to a lot of places to eat around the country and for a local pub it is well priced, great portion size, good choice of ingredients and fully home made from what I can observe. I had the fish and chips, great size with chunky white fish and authentic crispy batter, better than most chip shops. My wife had a Nicoise Salad and enjoyed it very much, noting the capers as a nice addition. Today she had a fish butty, which was effectively my fish in a sandwich, lovely. The chef does this establishment a great service.
I live nearby and will be visiting again more often, hopefully to try the Sunday lunch at some point.
Update 16/124: Still my favourite place in Cheshire. Plus they do...
Read moreCalled it for a Sunday lunch pretty much after hearing on social media the restaurant was reopening with a new chef . I had the large traditional roast and my wife tried the small version . To say this was one of the best roasts and great value for money would not be exaggerating. The roast was cooked to perfection and the staff could not do enough . As the main course was so good we decided to try the deserts and again were not disappointed. The recommendation for this restaurant is that the lunch was so good and great value for money we have decided to repeat and have Sunday Lunch at the Hare & Hounds in 2 weeks time .( Actions always speak loader than words in my eyes). Once again congratulations to all at the Hare and Hounds for a...
