Viewed the Leisure centre. Not overly impressive but convenient so decided to join Returned to join. No one at the desk, so we waited. A girl went behind the desk sat down, said nothing to us obviously waiting customers...and so after a short wait my partner asked if she worked for the sports centre (as opposed the the caravan park or cafe) and she looked at him like she was asked the most offensive question ever...and didn't really answer. Then asked the terms of an advertised offer and the result over and over was to be barked at we would need the managers agreement to that, again with a look on her face more appropriate to if we had asked about using the swimming pool as a toilet. Unsure of what circumstances it would be accepted or denied (to decide if to meet the requirements or not bother) between us we attempted to asked some clarification questions because as NHS workers we are the type to try to tease out information others do not understand is important and benefit of a doubt perhaps there was some information in her head that caused that reaction but we entered a cycle of blunt repetition whilst being looked at with contempt and so we left...
Read moreTwo out of three meals were good. The chicken kebab was one chicken skewer with a side salad and a bit of cous cous, very over priced for the cost, our burger came without the bacon and then of the two desserts ordered, after 10 minutes we were told one wasnt available, 5 minutes later we were told the second dessert wasn't available. On a reduced menu to have 2 of your desserts unavailable is a joke in all honesty. The attitude of the kitchen staff member who came out to tell our poor waitress was that a spoilt child when our waitress had a go at him for not informing her earlier about the desserts (which was fair enough in all honesty) and when told to tell us himself, he decided to storm back to the kitchen.
In fairness to the front of house staff, our waitress was extremely apologetic and even more so the second time and we were offered a free round of drinks as compensation which we politely declined as we had decided to just leave.
In summary, 2/3 meals were "okay", the 3rd being well overpriced and more fitting to a light bite. 0/2 on the desserts and fair play to our waitress tonight for dealing with the stroppy...
Read moreWe were staying just up the road, and decided to walk down (using the route through the holiday park, as there's limited space for pedestrians on the main road)
What a find, the food was delicious, and the waitress/bar staff did a great job accommodating us.
It was a weekday, outside of summer holidays, and the holiday park isn't massive, so the atmosphere wasn't 100%, but then sometimes it's nice to be in a quiet pub for dinner.
With 3 pairs enjoying the 2 for £20 steak night, the food and drink was very reasonably priced.
The only thing that let the pub down, their industrious owners (Haulfryn Holiday Group) insistence on cash-free: I dont mind paying by card, but when the card machine wouldn't accept Visa's (we tried 5, from different banks, both contactless and the old chip and pin) it was a bit of a struggle to pay for our food! (Thankfully one of us had a Mastercard but now we'll have to interchange our account details to sort it ourselves).
Overall we had a great evening, so many thanks...
