Where do I start my family and I went for food to celebrate Christmas and a birthday we got there and a lady took us to are table she then comes with menus and all was fine then a man come over with more menus and we said oh we already have menus he then walks off and had a go at the lady saying stay over there in a very nasty tone we put drink orders in and waited at least 25-30 for drinks and they even forgot the only hot drink we ordered we asked how long are hot drink would be and the lady went to find out another 10-15 minutes go by no drink so we ask again and then they bring it to us bear in mind they still hadn't taken are food orders so went to order we was given a list of things they didn't have and we expected that there delivery hadn't come in and we went ahead and order some had Sunday roast some had other food the Sunday roast come out and well for the price you would think the food would be bigger mine was the same size as the kids ones and gammon was dry like it had been sitting under a hot lamp anyway we had are food some had finished and some hadn't the lady and even the man come back 3 times in a small time span asking if they can take plates only thing they had been fast about the hole time and each time we said no as others where still eating and then we thought why not treat are self to some pubbing and again we put are orders in and I went with the sticky toffee pubbing thinking it's just sponge toffee and a bit of ice cream NO WHERE DID IT SAY THAT IT WASNT THAT but it come out I took a spoon full and seen a raisins or something in the raisin family I called the lady over and asked if there was raisins inside the pubbing she then went to the kitchen and come back and said FOR LEGAL REASONS I CANT CONFORM IF ITS A RAISINS OR some sort of dried fruit and she then said would you like to look at the allergies list well it's to late now I have eaten some already I then asked why doesn't it say on the menu that it have some sort of dried fruit in side it and her word's good point I don't no and after this happened they all stayed very far away from are table and we had to find one of them to get the bill even tho the pub was empty was wondering why the place was empty on a Sunday think I no why now never again not even a apology from anyone all they did was take the pubbing off the bill oh sorry for legal reasons they can't confirm if they have nearly killed someone or not with there food Just to add we only went to this place because rosewood and all other good pubs was fully booked with we all just had fish and chips in the car at least they no how to tell people about allergies and are fast...
Read moreA series of little issues, but when you add them all up, it doesn't make me feel that we'd return again.
Upon arrival 2 members of staff tried to find our booking but seemed to have difficulty despite me having a confirmation email when I booked it on 30th Jan, and a reminder email yesterday. They eventually took us to a table, but I was made to feel like I was lying about my booking!
No-one asked if we had any food allergies, although other tables were asked when they were seated, and I thought this was standard practice now.
When my son's meal arrived it should've had corn on the cob and veggie sticks as the 2 sides, but the corns were missing. When I asked for them the waitress said he'd got his 2 sides as it had been put through as fries and veggie sticks. The menu clearly states the burger comes with fries + 2 sides, and when I explained that she said "fine, but they'll take a while". No apology for their oversight.
My husband asked for vinegar, not realising that it was already on the table, and she said "that's on the table" in a very abrupt, rude tone.
Half way through my meal I realised I hadn't got the bread and butter that came with the fish and chips, but due to the response we'd already had with the missing corn, I didn't bother asking, although it would've been tricky as no-one came to ask if everything was OK with our meals and there were no waitresses nearby.
When I asked for the bill I mentioned the missing bread and butter, and again no apology, just a "oh OK I'll take it off your bill then". And when the bill came, it hadn't been taken off!
So all in all, not a great experience. One or 2 niggles or oversights you can accept, but not this many. And for no apologies to be given for their errors and oversights is unacceptable. There was no warmth or friendliness from the staff and we almost felt like an inconvenience. It's a shame as the food was really nice and we would've had desserts and coffees, but just wanted to leave at that point. And we won't be returning...
Read moreThis was a first trip out for my mother (in her 80's), after the latest lockdown and she was a bit nervous. The layout has changed but only slightly, with screens to shield some tables close to the door. We hadn't booked (it was lunchtime about 1pm), but fortunately they had a couple of tables available. My mother is partially sighted and I asked if we could have the brightest lit table available and I think they moved a reservation to accommodate us. We ordered from the 'two mains for £8.99'and I thought the portions would be slightly smaller than from main menu. That was definitely not the case! Mum had the Smothered Chicken (Sorry no pictures) and the plate was huge and full. I may have helped her with the chips but she did well with rest which is amazing as she normally has the appetite of a bird. She said the chicken was beautifully tender and very flavoursome. I had the chilli not carne and that was a smallish portion but suitably filling. Just as well as were then able to have pudding, Belgian waffle for me and ice cream for mum.
All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and courteous. The service was in no way rushed but neither did we feel forgotten. It was easy to catch the waitresses attention when we wanted another drink, even though she wasn't looking at us, she must have a sixth sense.
All in all a very pleasant visit and it did a lot to boost mum's confidence in going back out. Thank to...
