The Hollies Inn — Restaurant in England

We stayed here for a couple of nights for the purposes of a Longleat Safari Park getaway.||||We received a warm welcome and were shown to our room. We didn't take in much because, after a long drive, we wanted to go and get a drink from the bar below.||||Being the time of year, the Xmas decs were beautiful and we sat in front of a log fire. It was beautiful.||||When we were ready to eat, the beef lasagne was off the menu and replaced with chicken and olive lasagne, which did not appeal to me. I ordered a different meal which was very nice and my Husband was pleased with his.||||We retired to the room and that's when we started noticing the poor state of repair. I loved the wonky floor, that's character, but a very damp bathroom with no ventilation, and paper peeling off the bedroom wall was not. Those would be so cheap to fix. Very poor shower pressure also. That was room 3.||||What we did notice is that residents pay £4 more for a breakfast before 10, and passers by the normal price after 10. I find that immoral and inexplicable. In any event, we did not get a choice of eggs, we had snotty, undercooked fried eggs. No choice of bread - just seeded arrived, which I love, but hubby doesn't.||||All in all, a bit shabby, but the bar lounge...

Today I came in for a roast with a friend after hearing all about how good a roast is at the Hollies. We walked in a went to the bar to notify we had a table booked at 1pm, we were then sat at our table (without a menu) As a new person to the Hollies I was unsure of how we went about ordering our food and drinks. After 15 minutes of waiting I decided to go up to the bar and ask how we went about ordering food and drinks, The member of staff said “Well do you know what you want” I said no sorry as we haven’t yet had a menu. They then went a got some menus, and put them on the bar. We ordered our x2 Roast beef and drinks at the bar. The food came out shortly after, I was disappointed to find that the vegetables were hard and the Stuffing was dry. No table check was done to notify the staff of how our food was. I would understand if it was Super busy and the staff were rushed off their feet but this wasn’t the case. I hope this feedback can be used as good constructive criticism of...
