I had always liked this pub very much. The food has always been of a high standard without being overly expensive. I am disappointed to report, however, that my experiences yesterday have left me feeling let down, to say the least. As I was bringing my Polish friend (to get her opinion on the Pierogi meal regularly on offer) and as we were bringing our 2 dogs (collie sisters), I telephoned before lunch to check if it was busy with bookings, and whether 2 dogs together would be acceptable. Everything seemed fine. We travelled from Bristol, got drinks, and ordered and were waiting for the Pierogis to be cooked. On 2 occasiins, our dogs barked when people came into the pub. The landlady came over to us and expressed concern over their reaction to new customers. There were 3 older gents on the next table and she asked them if they minded. One said he didn't like the barking. It was obvious that our stay was going to upset the applecart. I paid for the drinks. I didn't care that our food may soon have been ready. My problem is that this pub claims to be dog friendly. Yesterday's experience makes me conclude that it is not the case. Possibly church mouse friendly...on a good dsy...but clearly not dog tolerant. Dogs do bark. That's part of life. I may have understood if they were permanently yapping but this was not the case. Very disappointed indeed. I shall miss the food but have mo intention of returning unless or until the claim of dog friendly is scrapped...

Fantastic Sunday lunch in this lovely village pub. We cycled here along the two tunnels route which is a great cycle or walk in itself. We approached through the pretty courtyard garden although it was too rainy to be outside but will definitely return on a sunnier day. The service was quick and friendly with all waiting staff being smiley and efficient. I had the steak roast which was delicious - the gravy was so so good and plentiful. Hubby had the nut and artichoke wellington which I tried and was really tasty too. Puds were good - the apple and cinnamon crumble was especially nice with soft apples and crunchy crumble topping. My beef roast was at the expensive end being £28 but was really tasty so wouldn’t mind paying this again although probably not too often at that price! All in all, a real gem of a pub with excellent staff, fantastic food, cosy interiors and a lovely...

Lovely pub. Nice friendly atmosphere. Food was great, with lots of choices and specials even though we went on a Sunday evening in the winter, which was quiet. I am told Sunday roast at lunchtime is very popular. The staff were lovely . Very Dog friendly. We went in winter but could see that the beer garden would be great in the summer.

It does have a lot of steps if you walk through the stepped beer garden from the car park to get to the pub. But I use a stick and it is very assessable if you park in the car park and walk out of there around to the front entrance. The first bit of the beer garden is they assessable for most and the pub is fine for disabled. It is right on what was an old railway branch line which is now surfaced for cyclists and walkers, with or without dogs.

Lovely place to walk your ur dog and pop in for a drink or a...

This pub can be found at the end of the Two Tunnel walk from Bath to Midford. We decided to settle here after the first stretch, especially as they were showing the Wimbledon final. Despite the relatively nice weather, this little spot was rather quiet today which allowed for a peaceful atmosphere. We both fancied pie, mine being feta, goats cheese and roasted veg and his steak and ale. Absolutely beautiful with all the trimmings and the staff were very relaxed and polite to top it off. They allowed us to start a tab, so we could order without the hassel of getting our wallets out everytime. Good beer selection on tap and our pints of coke were cold and bubbling. Combining the incredible views of Midford and Fedderer's easy Wimbledon win, a wonderful spot for Sunday lunch.

Stopped here for a bite to eat before doing the two tunnels. We reserved a table but it wasn't too busy so probably could be got a seat anyway. This is a nice cosy pub with a real log fire and plenty of seating. There was an excellent choice of food and it was delivered quickly and presented well. The food was all good the was a few of us and everyone enjoyed the food. It was a bit pricey... But other than that no complaints. After we did our walk we stopped back in for a hot chocolate and a suit by the fire. Overall recommended - good service, good food and a great location if you're cycling or walking. (Although there is a car park if you are doing neither)
