Never again. Do not recommend. I came here with my family, we made a last minute booking for a Sunday lunch. Was surprised we could get a table for 15 people so easily with less than an hours notice but we went ahead as we were all hungry and weren’t organised to book anywhere in advance. We had a private room to ourselves and were told they only had a certain number of roast meat portions left. Between the group, we mostly had roast dinners. It was by far the WORST roast I’ve ever experienced. I avoided ordering beef as I am pregnant and wasn’t sure if it might come out pink so I ordered the pork instead, which came out as a few overcooked scraps of meat on a plate. My husband ordered the roast beef and it was a very unattractive looking one and a half slices of thin, grey coloured beef. We had the equivalent of one potato each (just one potato, cut into two). The peas on our plate were an off-yellow colour like it had been overcooked before and reheated (my daughter had a dish from the kids menu and her peas were bright green in comparison so at least her food looked decent enough to eat). I also ordered a side of cauliflower cheese and it was burnt black around the edges and I only had one proper floret in it, the rest had disintegrated into mush because it was so overcooked. I’ve eaten at a lot of places and this was by far the worst food I’ve had. On the bright side, the serving staff were friendly and they had the courage to ask how our food was - we questioned the portion sizes and didn’t give positive feedback, their response said it was all to do with the chef. I’ve shared a photo of the roast beef - presentation, quality of food and taste...

Visited last Sunday to try the Sunday roast on offer. Was able to get a last minute table which was good. Very large garden amd lots of parking available.

Staff were friendly.

My reason for 3 star is the roast dinner was OK, however I was disappointed to not get any of the red cabbage on offer on the menu and when asking about this I was told they have not done it for a long time. Now I would suggest possibly taking it off of the menu.

The potatoes were, yorkers and gravy was nice however the veg was very plain.

My biggest disappointment was the roast beef topside. I've never been served beef as well done as that on a roast dinner to the point I didn't even attempt to put it in my mouth so I sent back to replace with lamb which was better but still slightly over and tough.

Portion size was good.

Sat in the corner and noticed it was fairly dated and seats not overly comfortable, could really do with a clean (corner of the pictures on the wall for example were not pleasing to look at and dirty it makes me wonder the state of the kitchen if that's what I can see what's it like where I cannot see).

This place could really have good potential but it needs some love and care put into it and it feels like the owner has either lost some love or is stuck in the 90s. If the beef wasn't so bad I'd have given the food a 4 and it wasn't worth the £16 paid.

This is by far not the worst roast dinner out there but it is also not the best which would explain why I was able to get a table last minute and it wasn't overly busy in there.

Would I go back ?...

I gave this place a great review for lunchtime food, but last evening was a different experience altogether. Food took too long to arrive, and when it did my wife and mother-in-law, who had both ordered toasted sandwiches, which come with a portion of coleslaw, had no coleslaw. Only when my wife told the staff that the coleslaw was missing, did they respond that they had run out. That alone is rubbish service. Then there is the range of beers, or should I say the non-existant range of beers; they were limited to say the least. On our last trip during a lunchtime the blazing log fire was welcoming and the pubs decor was therefore not noticeable. On this occasion it seemed dingy and outdated, and I hate to say it but it looked unclean. This look more worryingly carried over to the men's toilet which were horribly dirty and in need of updating. Sorry Huntsman, there will be no repeat visits for us until you do something to change...

The Huntsman Inn offers the weary traveller a welcome respite in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The food on offer was a good variety of classic meals with several appetising chef specials all at reasonable independent prices. The staff were attentive and polite and nothing was too much to ask. Having spotted several smart phones on the table we were given the handy free WiFi password before we ordered. The Inn is situated at just a stones throw from the M5, Junction 14. Turn right onto the A38 for 3 minutes, then left turn at the lights. Large free car park. Well worth a visit! Rooms for the night are available.

A lovely, welcoming pub & restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff. The moment we walked through the door we felt welcome and were seated promptly. The staff were polite and showed genuine enthusiasm to ensure we enjoyed our meal, and the tables were clean and laid out neatly. Food was prepared within 35 minutes and was delicious, perfectly cooked and definitely morish, not to mention very reasonably priced. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend visiting this restaurant if you are in the area.
