I was very disappointed with my recent visit to this pub. I last visited 2 years ago and remembered it being a nice pub, Im from out of the area therefore havent been back in some time. This time round was quite the opposite, the bar staff were kind and friendly but i cant quite say the same about the owner who was working that night too. My 1 year old son was in desperate need of a leg stretch, he had been sat in a long car journey and been nicely sat at the table for sometime. I didn't want him crawling in the very over crowded bar area where our table directly next too. Therefore I took him over to the quiet carpeted area just behind our table, no where near everyone as all were seated on the other side of the room. My son was doing no harm, damage or even making any noise and I was asked to move in a matter of seconds of us being there by the owner. I was informed it was an adult only area, there was no signs or reason to why it was only for adults. I explained the bar area was too busy and unsafe for my son, however was made to go back over to my table. I was very disgusted by this, fair enough if there was complaints or he was causing damage then of course id understand to make us move, but with no reason at all? My guess was he was worried about his precious carpet.... I highly recommend if you have young children to avoid this pub! I wont be coming back here again. The food wasnt that great either, multiple of us on the table said how the chicken was...
Read moreThe most friendliest, amazing pub i have ever been to! The staff are so welcoming and friendly. They can do enough for their customers. Attentive helpful staff giving the personal touch. The family atmosphere and general atmosphere is the best i have come across in my life! Met the most wonderful loveliest people who gave us the most homelike greeting. The John Gregory decor is delightful, clean light and the decor matches the ambiance.... fantastic! The outdoor seating area is just perfect as with inside. It has booths for comfort to make you feel right at home. Dogs are most welcome there and treated like family, with doggy treats behind the bar for the 4 legged customers!!! A great selection of drinks including cocktails are served and at great prices. As for the food......... Well...... it ....... was too.........DIE FOR👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽! Perfectly cooked, tasty, served hot and quick (so far i recommend the chicken murgh makhani curry!) I said that because im gonna work my way through the menu!!! Great selection of food from burgers, pizzas, half roast chicken which was absolutely delicious. The John Gregory deserves 10 stars as 5 is not enough for a pub/restaurant of this sheer quality, friendliness and homely to be given 5! We met the most wonderful people in this brilliant establishment and it is a wonderful part of the world. ...
Read moreThe renovations recently carried out have turned this place around. I personally found the food menu rather restricted. No green salads or fish dishes amongst the starters, the fish was very limited, only Fish & Chips (not sure what the fish was), or prawns/scampy. A salmon and perhaps other fresh fish dishes on the menu would add a whole new perspective. The menu has the usual meat eaters favourites of steak, burgers, gamon and chicken. The chips were very good and fresh, onion rings seem to be a speciality of the house. Being a party of two we were offered a table aganist the wall/radiator, not my favourite place to sit and eat a restuarant meal, I prefer to have free space around me. It has a good atmosphere but on my Sunday Lunchtime visit the place was very noisy and two TVs blaring out sporting fixtures is not very conducive to a relaxing pleasant lunch. They do have an extensive drinks menu, with two traditional English ales on offer at the time of my visit. The beer and food prices don't come anywhere near Weatherspoons offerings. The food was served up freshly prepared and straight from the kitchen. Would I pay a second visit? Probably but not at weekends, they have much lower food prices on offer from Monday to Thursday, so my next visit will...
