Whilst in Harrogate we visited this place. I have to say I was really pleased we did. The hotels bar is really nice and clean, it’s warm me welcoming. Very nicely decorated and a beautiful country pub look. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The service was first class. The food was divine. I had fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection, Golden crispy batter with a fluffy bit of haddock. Tasted beautiful. The chips triple cooked with skin on, chunky and again cooked really well. The filling fluffy and I really enjoyed them. The mushy peas really good. My only criticism was my tartare sauce it was far too chunky for me but the taste was amazing. So I ate what I could. My partner had pie of the day which was stake and ale, this was massive. The meat was so tender and full of gravy. She had plenty of filling within the pie. The pastry was light and fluffy. The mash potatoes had spring onions in and it was soft and free of any lumps. The vegetables she did not like the look of but when she ate them she said was delicious. The gravy was rich and tasty. A very happy pair of customers after our visit thank you

Great location on the very busy A661 near the A658 roundabout into Harrogate is The Kestrel a very lovely country pub. With its LOW beams - so just watch your head when you walk in. Plenty of FREE parking overlooking farmers fields and lovely surrounding views. A freehouse pub with popular lagars and beers, plenty of wines and spirits too. Seating inside and out to enjoy the long summer nights or watch it through the windows. In colder months i believe the log fires are lit. Everyone was so nice, the booking was quick and went through to a main booking office. You can book tables by just pressing the keypad on your phone. The room was big, airy and clean, shower was hot with towels, soap dispenser by the sink and in the shower, and plenty of plugs. An iron and ironing board, the TV at 1st glace looks out of place on the side wall but if your careful it will pull out and pivot so you can watch it from the bed. Hot drink facillities, tea, coffee & biscuits. If you just want a nice meal then theres plenty to choose from steaks, burgers, pizzas in the resteraunt and i had the full english for breakfast with coffee and orange juice.

Been once when family visited for breakfast, but I won't be joining them again, and I don't think they'll be returning after their most recent visit last week. Sausages are mushy inside. Not a fan. The toast was sourdough - didn't enjoy. Trying to make an breakfast seem more fancy. My egg was slightly firm, too. Barely runny. Also, an English breakfast does not need greenery! Coffee was okay. My family went last week around 11am and were disgusted - sausages black and hard. Mums egg hard despite her requesting it to be runny. Forgot extra toast then they brought that as well as more toast. Must have had left over food from the guests who stay there and they must not have prepared fresh food for my family. (The picture attached is from my only visit. I didn't get pictures of my family's last visit with the burnt sausages/solid eggs etc.) I'm sure we can find nicer for cheaper elsewhere.

I am not one to complain , but I believe we are in the right . Looking forward to our meal after a lovely day out. GYS, this is a lovely looking, clean pub .we have passed it over the years and said we must try it . Once in side, we order our meal duo of lamb sounded lovely. My husband had the same as me the only difference was his lamb was well done as requested. His lamb was tough, and as for the Shepherds pie on both meals, it was very poor. There was a very, very fine layer of mince with a very fine layer of potato on top, not even sure it was not packet mash as there was no depth to the dish . We had to order extra garlic bread and a portion of chips as we were both still hungry. On complaining to our server, she said I would report this to the chief and the landlady . We ordered our desert , No one came to speak to us ,the was two other people in our group who had the Lasagna . We all believe that our meal was made and then just warmed up in the microwave. On leaving the pub after paying over a £100 for one round of drinks and two very poor meals for the price we drove around the back of the pub, there was no smell of food being cooked . Which you would do at 8pm on a night with a restaurant cooking food . I believe we if someone would have come and spoke to us, I would not feel so bad writing this fair but honest post. ps ,The...

Nine of us went here as part of a work team lunch. The menu online looked really nice and I had been looking forward to the outing. When we got there we were warned that there were a lot of menu items they didn't have. They were not joking! None of the things I wanted were available so I had to make do with alternatives.

Most of us went for the two course lunch menu, some opting for starter and main, others for main and dessert. We had to wait ages even before the starters arrived. I was glad I had ordered one because I was really quite hungry by the time it arrived. We then had to wait a further hour before the main courses arrived. Bearing in mind we were only on our lunch break that was not acceptable at all. In the end the people who wanted dessert had to abandon that idea because it was already way too late. We were in there for over two hours, most of the time waiting to be served. We were offered no explanation as to the cause of the delay and no apology.

The actual quality of the food was fine but nothing outstanding and certainly not worth the wait. I thought the meals themselves were reasonably priced at £11.50 for two courses but the drinks were expensive: £2.60 for a bottle of J2O, £4.75 for a pint of Landlord.

Overall a very...

Absolutely amazing place! We booked well in advance for Christmas Dinner, adding to our notes that if possible to have a table that was a little more private as our son is Autistic and struggles when surrounded by people.

When we arrived, it was obviously extremely busy being Christmas day. They were also running behind, so people were all stood around the bar waiting. We asked if there was anywhere we could wait, with our son obviously having issues. Very quickly we were shown to a meeting room where we could wait on our own until our table was ready.

We were in there for about 45 minutes, which was unfortunate but we understood Christmas day was extremely busy for them. My wife went to ask a couple of times if they knew how much longer we would be waiting, to be honest this was more so us being paranoid we would be forgotten with it being so busy. As it was obvious a table still may not be ready anytime soon, they made up a new table for us that was nice and private.

The food was absolutely amazing, it was definitely worth the wait. The service was also exceptional and I lost count of the amount of apologies we received due to the wait.

Given everything that was going on, the service we received and quality of the food, we will 100000%...
