Extinct, at risk, vulnerable? After a lot of searching I find a country pub - that is not part of a chain managed by very nice, well-intentioned people but instead a real country pub. Full of life, homemade food, very tidy and hygienic and perfectly conforming to all the Covid regulations without making it feel uncomfortable... spot on. The menu is varied and it is hard to choose. I was jealous of the crackling on the pork belly until my Venison and Stilton pie arrived. Absolutely delicious but you’ll have a hard time choosing - the other guests were happy with their choices - Such a great selection- you know you want to come back if not to have room for the Sticky Toffee Pudding - Excellent cask ales and bitter and a nice selection of wine... beautiful backyard but mostly you feel that you have found something that you thought might have been lost... like a warm fire? Village pub - people are welcomed by name ??!!? A really nice pause ... a feeling of the ideal regained? The truth - I regret writing this as this hidden gem doesn’t need my review and I fear I may never be able to get in if the word gets out... so local it’s under the radar -...
