This place was a lucky find. Trying to find a pitch for the night in our camper. Pulled into the Lime Kiln, asked the two questions. Being can we eat and can we also stay in your carpark. Both question greeted with a positive response. The guy behind the bar had 3 days before taken over this pub. Really great beer was on draft. Small menu which shows the food was being prepared fresh. Guess it's not a given. However the barman James a chef had a fellow chef in the kitchen. We spent a great evening in the pub, log fire roaring away. Good banter with James. Good food from the kitchen and a short walk to the comfort of the van for the nights sleep. If you want to stop over here book first. They dont have a huge amount of room nor do they want 20 vans taking up all spaces.

We had a chance find with The Lime Kiln this week (Tue 18 July), but what a find! Pulled in to stretch our legs and have a coffee, ended up chatting with the nice guy behind the bar (didn’t ask for his name sorry) and eyeing up some good looking food that he was brought out for the other customer in there. We ended up eating and staying for over two hours! Had a great burger with a Thai / Vietnamese twist (so tasty and cheap!!), and he made a decent coffee
The guy was no barista, but it was a solid latte. It was pretty quiet, but it was early in the week and hadn’t long been open. We were told that it’s early days for the new owners and they are still fine tuning things, but it came across as a proper little gem to us. Thanks and all the best!

Horrific! Place stunk of fish, staff were miserable and slow, waited an hour and a half for main course which was inedible, rare steak ordered was cremated and full of fat, pepper sauce was tasteless and cold and the mushrooms should have been thrown away two weeks before not cooked and served! toilets were filthy, place has no atmosphere whatsoever, drinks served in small tumblers no ice no slice, no nice gin glasses? Was extremely disappointed with our visit and won't ever be returning!

7/7/19. 1:15pm. Booked in for Sunday lunch after seeing photos on internet. Adequate parking and friendly on arrival. Ordered drinks and sat down. Nice room with quality furniture. Chairs needed padded cushions. The waitress was new which seems to be a theme looking at other comments. The one question which is always asked of a waitress/waiter is ‘what is the soup?’ It’s really basic and down to staff training. She had no idea. Eventually we ordered soups after the barman came over to sort it. The soup was tasty but not very hot. I had to ask for butter for the bread rolls which arrived about 3 minutes later. The main course arrived as a platter which looked amazing. Unfortunately again it was not very hot and I had to actually ask for plates. They arrived about 2 minutes after the food. They were cold and had not warmed. The meat and veg were very nice but spoiled by the temperature. We were then asked if we wanted a sweet. A strange question as it was a 3 course meal. No menu just a note pad which she read off. I asked if there was a cheesecake to which the answer was no. We ordered 5 sweets after some confusion from the new waitress. Then the man came back to confirm our orders as he was confused. I know how he felt. One of the sweets we ordered by two people was not available. He then went through the limited choice again which included cheesecake?? The sweets arrived one at a time with around 90 seconds between each one. Mine arrived after my son had finished his and it was with cream and not the ice cream I had asked for. It’s a real shame because the food was nice and the room was a nice setting. I feel the problems are down to staff training and trying to put staff in a position they were not ready for. More people arrived and I overheard the barman saying they were a bit behind due to a big booked in party. Surely have staff to cope with the bookings? Train the staff, know the menu, serve the food hot and on time, provide and warm the plates before the food. I would like to return as I feel the shoots of a really good business are there but it...

Well I have to say since the departure of James and his friend and fellow chef it is not as good as it was under them. We first visited here around 3 weeks ago finding it on way back from a shopping visit to Welshpool. We were greeted by James an exceptional chef and lovely guy who made us feel welcome. We had a lovely Sunday dinner which was amazing. And booked in for the following Sunday too. We even popped in during the week beforehand and had small bite to eat which again was incredible. The 2nd Sunday lunch again was amazing. We returned yesterday however to discover James and his friend had left, and the owner was more or less trying to do everything himself with a young lady doing her best to help him when she available. We'd ordered food before we were told they had gone and when if eventually arrived it was nowhere near as good as it would of been. We thus cancelled our planned Sunday lunch for this weekend. Don't get me wrong it is still a really nice place for a drink or two. The new barmaid is genuinely lovely and had nice natter to her while we enjoyed our drinks. It's just a massive shame that James and his friend have gone, especially with the...

We booked Sunday lunch based on previous reviews to try out in advance of booking for a large family Christmas meal. Always a good indicator of whether they can cook Christmas lunch. First signs were not good, one member of staff behind the bar taking orders as well as serving table, drinks etc. No details of our booking which was made by phone because they didn't respond to our email booking. Beer was very average, not sure that the IPA is being kept as it should be. Menu not nearly as varied as that on the website. Decent enough prawn cocktail let down by no bread of any sort as an accompaniment, wife had garlic mushrooms which were a bit gloopy. Soggy overcooked veg, very poor Yorkshire puddings, a miserly dribble of watery gravy. My wife said it reminded her of school lunches- only not as nice! To top it off, service was very slow, the atmosphere dismal and whilst the lady behind the bar was not rude, she certainly didn't seem to be very convivial...
