On the recommendation of a local resident, we visited the Lion while staying in the area, and we weren't disappointed. New landlords, Jonathan and Pip, had only taken over the pub a month before, but appear to be making their mark in a positive and good way. As we entered there was a nice buzz inside with a mix of locals and others, and soft background music playing which wasn't intrusive and an assault on the ears, as it is in so many other places! Food was well cooked, nicely presented, with generous portions, and everything was delicious. One of us chose Hunter Chicken and the other had Chicken Penang Curry. I happen to know this chef is good with his herbs and spices so I ordered the Thai chicken curry and was not disappointed. The combination of spices, fragrant herbs and a little sweetness was perfect for me and rivaled any I have had at Thai restaurants before. My daughter said "The best fish and chips ever" ( she was able to order a smaller portion from the adult menu which suited her).
