Good lord what a lovely Sunday Lunch!!!

We got battered on Cross Fell so where feeling PROPER sorry for ourselves so we booked into the Masons Arms!

We had two Sunday dinners and they were bloody amazing! I’m a right greedy sod and ALWAYS feel like pubs are tight arsed but not a problem here!lovely big portions!! We washed it down with a locale Ale and a pudding each (obviously.. who doesn’t?!) .. fudge cake and a apple and raspberry crumble .. all this was done in front of an open fire!!!

The landlady was a star! Really lovely and welcoming!! Even in COVID times her warmth and passion for her pub came across!! We mucked her about a bit with timings too!!!

If it wasnt uncouth to swear id of said this place was effing wonderful!!

We do a lot of poncing about on the hills so we absolutely...

One word to sum this place up..... wow. I honestly don't get any of the negative reviews on here. We're not local and rugby was on and had no issue with any of the regulars and were very welcoming as were the staff.... As for the food.... OMG, kids portions would be suitable for a teenager let alone my 5 year old she went for fish and chips and enjoyed every bit of it. As for me I went for Ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce... the steak was so good it felt criminal to use the peppercorn sauce but the sauce was on another level. The mushrooms were perfect as were the chips the only personal preference would be a more cooked tomato but where else could they improve if there wasn't something. Highly recommend one of the best steaks...

Hi. I'm sorry I haven't explained why I only gave your place two stars. To start with, your response tells the general manners at your place, which is one of the reasons I only gave this place two stars. We where met by a waiter which couldn't explain the menu and wasn't bothered about it either. The service was very slow even though there wasn't many customers, the food was boring and overpriced and the place was very dirty, why I think your place only deserves two stars. It is all based on an overall experience, why it isn't something I would take up with the waiter while I was there, but obviously I don't mind to explain...
