Just about coming to the end of our holiday in this area (can't comment on the rooms but will give them 5 stars so as not to bump the score down because what we have experienced really has been great).

Fairly new owner from what we know, great guy and very welcoming (as was his brother visiting from America) - we were lucky enough to spend 10 nights in the area so got to go for 2 Sunday roasts which were brilliant, couldn't fault it at all really and our 8 year old son thought the same - can't decide between the fudge cake & cheesecake, I would recommend trying both! I also tried the Rogan Josh on the evening of our arrival which was also very tasty indeed, our son was also a big fan of the chicken goujons, I don't think you'd go wrong whatever you picked, all cooked fresh to order!

The regulars also were very welcoming for an area of the country that is so quiet to the point where we even took part in the monthly pub quiz, only downside for us is how far away it is from home otherwise I think we'd spend a lot more time here, this is like the local we wish we had!

Dogs also more than welcome, our Dottie got several treats and even a bit of the spare beef!

Great job guys, keep it up and hope to be back and see you again in the future!

This is a classic middle of nowhere country pub, and these guys deserve your support if you're in / around the local area. Thank you so much for a great time! 🙂 (sorry, no photos, we scarfed the food down before we remembered to...

We stayed here whilst walking the Pennine Way from Middleton on a day of incessant wind and rain. Laurie greeted us (the only patrons of the pub that day) at the door and from that point until we left the next morning, nothing was too much trouble. He immediately got us an extra heater, towels and drying rack for all our soaking wet gear and turned the heating up for us too. We had a lovely meal by the fire and he very kindly dropped us back on the Way thenext morning to do it all over again. His hospitality was a God-send after a miserable day and we were so grateful to him for everything to get us going and reenergised for the next day's walk. Please support him as he starts this...

We visited for Sunday lunch. Landlord and staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A very quaint pub, clearly steeped in history. Food was delicious. Homemade soups to start. Roast beef, roast gammon, roast lamb were our chosen meals. Perfect! And excellent service. Thank you for your...
