Quintessential, well used, English village pub in the heart of beautiful Abthorpe. My wife and I were staying locally for a couple of nights and booked ourselves in for evening meals., The warmth of welcome by Linda, the staff and the regulars was lovely, especially towards our woofer, Millie. The choice of Hook Norton Ales were right up my street and the wine selection superb. What we weren't expecting was the choice and quality of the food served. Absolutely outstanding, the portions are large but that didn't detract from the flavour and freshness of the ingredients used. Worth noting that weekly trips are made to Billingsgate market (orders taken for the local community), so varied seafood features on the menu. First night we shared an asparagus starter followed by Short Rib of Beef and my wife had the Billingsgate Mussels Mariniere, followed by gorgeous homemade Tiramisu. Second night. Scallop starter, Chicken Ham & Leek Pie and my wife enjoyed the mussels so much the first time around that she had them again. Very, very happy. No wonder this pub won the award for Midlands in 2019.

We look forward so much to...

The New Inn is a lovely pub, tucked away in the village of Abthorpe near Towcester. We were recommended this venue by some local friends we were visiting and to say we weren't disappointed was an understatement. We had a very warm welcome from not only the staff but also the customers! There wasn't that moment of silence when you enter a strange pub and everyone turns to look at the new arrivals! The bar had a great selection of well kept Hook Norton real ales plus the usual lagers etc. The food was fabulous - large portions of well cooked traditional pub fare, served in good time to all of our party of 6. The building itself is obviously very old and does look like it could do with a little TLC but that in no way detracts from the great, warm pub experience. In fact it added to the charm and makes a nice change from bland chain establishments. A great pub that it well worth...

Lovely country pub nesstled in the beautiful village of Abthorpe. There was a great selection of food on the menu, especially seafood, and all very reasonably priced. Particularly as the quality was superb. We went for steaks and lobster, which were delicious. The staff were very welcoming and accomadating. Especially as we arrived a little early for dinner service, which is 6pm-9pm except on Sundays. There's a great atmosphere in the pub and well used by the locals. Highly recommend a visit.

Food and beer amazing. Sarah and young lad very attentive. Good modern background music. Lobster with huge prawns and moules marinere (one meal!) was out of this world. Competitively priced.
