If I could give them 10 stars I would. We had our wedding reception here on Saturday, hiring the beautiful skittle alley function room for a BBQ buffet for 30 people at lunchtime, and a pizza, sandwiches, sausage rolls buffet for 45 people in the evening. The venue is stunning, set in countryside and with accommodation on site it was a perfect location and backdrop for our day. Stacey and her team were absolutely superb start to finish, from Stacey's initial response and the fantastic help that followed in accommodating our requests and budget right to the last minute, to the day itself where the team especially Stacey and Sam looked after us and our guests front of house. Sam and the team on the day were amazing, our guests commented on how proactive they were, going above and beyond to provide personalised service wherever possible. They made us feel special and took extra care - Stacey even brought me pizza from the evening buffet when she saw I hadn't eaten! And Sam made sure glasses were full throughout... And even demonstrated the "Dorset flop" skittle technique for our guests 😂 Oh, and I should definitely mention the food! Perfectly cooked, we had a meal in the pub as a large group the night before the wedding, service was exemplary and the food was absolutely delicious. Perfect portions and a great menu selection. I highly recommend the Rhubarb posset! Although the menus also change (I think weekly?!) with new chef specials. Our wedding day BBQ and pizza buffets were spot on - bespoke menus created by chef that exactly met our brief. The weather was even kind enough to is that the fabulous team were able to BBQ for us and serve outside. The food was well cooked and I heard lots of comments from our guests of how good all the food was. We stayed at a holiday let run by the pub owners just a 2 minute walk away, which provided a peaceful base for us for the weekend, and many of our guests stayed at The New Inn and their sister pub in Broadmayne, the Black Dog, and all were very happy with the rooms. Breakfast was also delicious - my recommendation ask for an extra sausage and go for scrambled egg 😍 The amazing attention to detail and incredible team meant we had the best day we can imagine. Highly recommended!

We went for a Faulty Towers dining experience and had an amazing evening. Despite serving 80 guests the food was hot and perfectly cooked. Needless to say the entertainment was excellent and we would do it again

Recommended and will return! This is a wonderfully situated pub hotel in a picturesque, quiet village just on the edge of Dorchester. Perfectly situated for easy car access to Dorchester, Weymouth, and Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. It is really well run, very clean and with lovely rooms and a great choice of food. The food is well prepared and well presented with a good range of different types of breakfast and dining menus that cover a range of tastes. (Their burger with pulled pork and their venison burger are notably good.) The chef was willing to accommodate menu needs for us and other guests without fuss. An allergy query was easy for them to answer as the food was made by them. All this, in a large dining area that offers discrete areas to sit and can easily cope with large parties and individual diners. There is also a more casual pub bar that includes a pool table, plus an outside area and a good size car park. The rooms are of adequate size, not cramped and equipped with fixtures and fittings that are of a good quality (no flimsiness here) with ensuites that are sensibly laid out. Hot drinks in the room offer a good range of teas, coffee, and some hot chocolate plus extras such as oat milk in addition to dairy options. Whilst we were there a redecoration was in progress and our room was next on the list, and with the good condition it was already in, clearly demonstrates the attitude to high standards that the management have. The housekeeping standard across the property was very high obviously with an eye that ensures all areas are kept clean at a considerable level of detail. The rooms do not have air con but do have fans and windows that open. All the management and staff we met were mainly local and operated as a friendly, customer-first team. Their attitude was not the false friendliness of some establishments; they demonstrated a genuine attitude of caring and interest. They were helpful about the local area and presented everything with an efficient, yet warm attitude. Thank you to the management and the full team for such a great experience. Not just a place to recommend, a place to return to - and we will!

What everyone wants in a hotel is really simple. A room description you paid for, clean, comfortable, to be pampered, and a good nights sleep !||I arrived at this hotel at around 4:30pm. I saw a sign that said "reception under archway" so I went under the archway, only to find 2 doors with no entrance, and no signs. I tried all the doors but they were locked. It was all locked up and nobody was about. ||I called the phone number on the booking form, but was disconnected after about 6 rings. I tried the second extension number only to be greeted with "mailbox full, disconnecting" I rang the main number, 5 times when I was answered by another Hotel taking messages. They said they would try to find someone. I sat in my car. About 30 mins later a young lad turned up, parked his car next to mine, got out looked at me, walked past me and into the Hotel. The lights went on so I went inside. ||The young lad, we shall call him the Assistant Manager, greeted me and asked me to book in. He asked what time i was going to eat breakfast and what time I would eat tonight, both I really didn't know but I wasn't getting away without a time for breakfast. Every other word ended with the word "sir", very annoying after a couple of minutes. I asked if they did room service, "No". Could I take food to the room by myself ? "Yes" he replied.||I went upstairs and my room was like an oven, so i opened my window and turned the room radiator off. I noticed the room was pink ! Instant turnoff, and obviously a girlie decision. The small TV was screwed to the wall, right in the top left hand corner, as high as possible. If you sat on the bed to watch it, your neck would ache. My TV at home sits on a table. There was a kettle and tea bags, etc on a tall table, but there was no electric socket. One wall had been badly marked by a previous stayer. The carpet had not been vacuumed for a while as previous stayers bits were still there. The toilet still had unwashed cleaning fluid and a hair still there.||The toilet rad was so hot you would actually burn yourself if you turned round with no clothes on, but worse, you couldn't turn it off.||There is nowhere to put my suitcase apart from the floor, and there was grey tape holding up the fake wooden ceiling joist.||While waiting for the room to cool down I went to the bar for another round of "sirs". ||The beer was fine, then the young female owner arrived. The lad was given his duties and she was alone behind the bar. I chatted and it was quiet evident she had not spent time in the Hotel world before. She then spent the next 30 mins with her back to me, and playing with her mobile phone and laptop putting rooms on the internet presumably. Rude !||She took a few phone calls, obviously the phone was now on direct answer, and quoted prices higher than I paid, but this would be embarrassing if the other way around !||I had a few beers then thought I would order some food. The young lad came back and he took my order. "Is it ok to take to my room? " The lad turned to his boss "It's ok for him to eat in his room ?" "Yes, as long as he doesn't throw it all over the floor !" she replied.||The food arrived. "Do you want a tray?" she said. "No" I replied. "If you like I can carry this up to your room for you". Why don't you do room service then I thought ?||The burger was home made, but not very nice, a strange taste. ||I decided to get into bed and it felt strange. I had booked a double room (Double bed) but they had pushed two single beds together. I was not impressed ! The room was still baking hot due to the fact I would not turn off the hot rad in the bathroom, even with the door closed. I went downstairs and confronted the boss ! She told me to keep the window open all night and turn the fan on, even though the window was right next to the road. I asked them to turn the hot rad water temperature down, or off, and was told they couldn't as it was controlled by a thermostat, which I found funny. Evidentially, all the double rooms have 2 single beds in them. I asked to be put into another room, and was told they were full and that I should go and find another hotel. I was in the middle of nowhere, and she knew I was over the drink drive limit, as she served me beer, so I was not impressed. ||The only thing I could do, was put up with the situation, so i returned to my room, put the bathroom light on which activated the fan. I opened the window, and saw the boss disappear in her new Audi SUV, apparently going home to turn her heating on, leaving all the problems behind her ! A very bad nights sleep followed !||I took a picture of the 2 beds in the morning, by removing bed sheets. I also noticed black hairs on the mattresses. This room had been cleaned, but was not clean at all !||Breakfast was disappointing, the toast came out pre-buttered, and it was melted making the toast soggy. The bacon was smoked, and not my best fan, the scrambled eggs i believe were powdered, as they were bright yellow. The waitress was however, superb ! She should take over the place !||I put all of this down, to a manager that has never worked in a hotel before, and i am sure nobody checks the rooms on a daily basis. It seems that this place is being run as a part time business as nobody is around during the daytime. Shame because it has potential !||Good...
