We used to come here years ago - not sure why we stopped as there's no real reason. We were looking for somewhere to take our elderly neighbours for lunch (his 87th birthday) and my wife had been here a couple of weeks ago and said it was good. I phoned and reserved the table - the person who took the call was very nice and friendly. They serve an excellent pint of real ale! The menu isn't huge but don't let that put you off as it is excellent. My wife and neighbour had the pie of the day, Bob had the liver and I had loin if venison. Superb! That's all that needs saying. Rather full from the main I did venture to have the creme brulee (as they haven't messed with it by adding unnecessary fruit etc.) which was very nice. My only observation (and not a criticism) is there isn't enough vegetarian choice and my daughter would struggle if we took her - but that's just our personal view. Would I go there again? Definitely! Would they want us there again? I would hope so.

We stopped here on our way to a weekend in Somerset and we loved it so much we came back for the Sunday roast on our way home 3 days later. The food is some of the best pub food I’ve had ever. High quality local products used, damn near every was made in house as well. Real gravy too, not that generic watery nonsense. And the service was very hospitable. We met the chef too who was so kind and remembered us next time. It’s a real “mom and pop” place. Cozy and homey as well. We will be back!

Visited this lovely pub for a roast with friends, the food was lovely, available in 3 sizes depending how hungry you are. Good price too. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, nice & clean space especially the toilets. Car park at the back. Sadly not very wheelchair friendly but it’s an old building. Very cramped, lots of tables and chairs crammed in but apart from that we had a lovely visit and would definitely go back.

We didn't have the best experience here, though I have been told the landlady was away. My friend ordered a Blue steak and was given one that was clearly medium to rare. After sending it back to the kitchen the waitress who had taken our order then came back to tell us we were wrong, they had looked at it under a light and it was definitely rare in the middle, ironically thus proving it was not a Blue cooked steak. Another waitress then offered fish and chips as an alternative, but no offer of a Blue cooked steak as ordered. As the rest of us had nearly finished at this point we just asked for the chips to be returned and some vegetables. We waited ages and long after everyone had finished a minute piece of steak was produced, about 5cm wide x1cm thick which was beautifully cooked as Blue. Mistakes happen, it's no biggie, but why not just own the mistake and offer another steak cooked properly in the first place? They didn't charge us for this meal...

Excellent food, good service. We arrived at 6:40 on a Saturday evening, there were only a few people and we were seated immediately. I had the (cornish) mussels as an appetizer and I have to say they were possibly the best I'd ever had. They were in a white wine based cream sauce, it was hot and very flavorsome.

The main courses came out after a short interval, I had lambs liver, bacon and black pudding on mash potatoes. We also had two mint burger mains, and the game pie.

All the food was excellent, seemed fresh, and was hot on delivery. Starters were 5-9 UK pounds per dish, and the mains were from 10 UK pounds; upto 19 UK Pounds for the steaks.

By the time we were finished the bar and restaurant were full, we were not rushed to finish. The bill for 4-people, plus drinks came to...
