A beautiful pub in very pretty surroundings. Unfortunately this is the only good thing I can say about this place. When we arrived we ordered food at the bar to make it easier for the staff. My friend changed her mind literally one minute after the bar lady took the order to the chef. Rather than politely decline, which we would've understood, we heard the chef scream his expletives which made everyone feel quite awkward and at that point made us want to leave. From that point on things got worse. An older lady behind the bar (possibly the owner) was the most rudest lady I've ever come across. We thought it would be easier to pay at the bar (there were 5 of us) and I asked politely if she could put the bill through separately. She slammed the bill down in front of us and told us to work it out between us. When giving her an Amex card, again rather than politely declining, she slid it back in such a sarcastic manner and said "NO", without any explanation. I'm not quite sure what we did wrong for her to be so off with us - we sat outside, we weren't loud, we weren't drinking so I'm a little confused. I watched as more guests arrived and she had pretty much the same attitude towards them too. She's definitely in the wrong business as she clearly has an issue with life. Either way, we were respectful paying customers but I would never recommend anyone to go there. Stay clear. Food mediocre. The only thing nice about that experience was the sun shining. Pity I cannot...

Charming pub with a great garden with children’s play area. However the food was awful. Ham, Egg and Chips for I think 18 pounds = an over cooked egg yolk, and school dinner oven chips. I thought I ordered a regular burger. Can’t go wrong. Instead I was served a burger cooked to death and drenched in a gloopy sauce and finished under the grill. No bun on top, but they left the bun on the bottom? Why? Soggy to the point of no return it was all very confusing. And again for very unreasonable 18 pounds. I chased a portion of fries for my eldest child that weren’t brought out. They said they were on the table. After a back and forth and me having to walk back to my table, 10 minutes later they said they didn’t place the order. I said leave it. Having worked in hospitality in my younger years, I just would have brought a portion of fries out. This pub is a great half way meeting point for us and some friends coming from Bristol and London, where we have a wealth of great pubs serving food. Disappointed today, I wish I...

Went here for lunch with friends with my small dog. Very dog friendly. All staff were welcoming and friendly and service was excellent. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Food arrived quickly, and looked very attractive. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is that I had the fish and chips, batter was crisp, chips looked good, but it all tasted a bit bland and the mushy peas were dryish and didn't help on adding flavour (there had been salt on fish batter so wasn'tlack of salt). No other sauces on the table bar sachets of mustard/vinegar/mayonnaise (I unfortunately don't like mayonnaise and the other condiments didn't help) I could probably have asked for ketchup, but didn't, which may have helped. I would have loved to have given 5...

We found this beauty after our visit of Avesbury stonecycle (also worth a visit) because we got really hungry. First we were uncertain because of a parking lodge for our motor home but the lady of the Oddfellows allowed our stay. We got a heart warming welcome and could stay for a lunch. It was really delicious. The whole place was really family friendly and our 3 year old son enjoyed the playground in the backyard of the place. We met really kindly people there and left well saturated :D We recommend a visit and a taste of their variety of dishes.

Closed until further notice !!!! Walked here today (Sept 8) for a pint only to discover an August 28 2019 sign saying ā€˜closed until further notice’. Local tom-toms say it’s over a dispute with the brewery. Twin pub up the road, Who’dathoughtit, also shut down (permanently) I’m told. Swindon family in the car park are not amused. Thought the fact it was bought from winnings from a horse race bet a cool story. Until today. [Weirdly, closed notice on back door only] NAME & OWNERSHIP CHANGED IN DEC '19 THEY SAY AND RE-OPENED

Very nice cozy pub. Feels very comfortable. Great place to go for a meal and a pint. Food was fantastic. However, I felt that the service was not authentic and I was not too pleased to see that the sauce I was offered cost 2.50 extra plus there was an automatic service charge added to the bill that was not mentioned. Perhaps a little bit of greed by plumping up the final price without showing it on the menu item! Pity because it spoilt a perfect impression.
