Before anyone reading this jumps to conclusions about me being a serial restaurant complainer to get money off, I am not. This is an honest review of my experience at The Old Inn. I have left plenty of positive reviews of restaurants - when they are justified.
Anyway, I’d booked a table of 8 for my Dad’s 80th on a Saturday night. Due to the party size we had to pre-order our mains the week before “to avoid disappointment”. I duly gave the order of 8 meals and asked for a read back. All seemed correct.
We arrived and got seated. Our drinks order was taken and we asked to see the starter menu. This seemed to add a bit of confusion to the proceedings as we hadn’t pre booked these. Nothing was mentioned about pre ordering starters during the conversation earlier in the week. Anyway we eventually got our starter order in and happy days.
I’d ordered a plain cheeseburger for my son and asked for that to come with the starters.
The starters arrived - I’d ordered the “half rack” of ribs. My word, these ribs consisted of 3 bones and no meat. Shocking. Everyone on the table couldn’t believe what had been served. I asked to see the manager as I clearly wasn’t happy.
The “manager” turned up and his attitude was disgusting. Very condescending and absolutely no attempt to set things right. No offer of a replacement. To be honest I was stunned.
My son’s cheese burger arrived - without cheese. They then offered to give a small bowl of cheese on the side as an alternative. We asked to have the cheese melted - not unreasonable as all other cheeseburgers in the world are like this. This was also an effort.
The final straw was my brother’s meal didn’t arrive as it wasn’t on the list of preordered food. I know it was as I’d made them read back the 8 meals at time of order. To be fair it did turn up quite quickly but appeared to be rushed and thrown together.
Overall a very very disappointing experience. We have used this pub for years whilst visiting Weston but will not be back again. The attitude and food quality was poor - certainly not worth the few hundred pounds we spent. I didn’t get the manager’s name but he needs to be sent on a customer service course. Absolutely...
Read moreI was there last Sunday for a family get together for a wake for 2 beloved family members, There were 14 of us. I called them the Friday before to ask if dogs were allowed in their premises and I was told that they were very welcome. When we got there however it was a different story! We were dining in the garden room and as I walked in I was stopped by a member of staff and very rudely told that dogs were not allowed! I told the woman that I had called ahead to ask and I was told dogs are very welcomed! The lady continued in a condescending tone to tell me that "that would not have happened, you would not have been told dogs are welcome in the garden room, you did tell them that didn't you?" I replied that I didn't know where we would be sitting but I should have been told that dogs were only allowed in specific areas of the premises if there were restrictions in place! The manager then joined in and backed his staff up and agreed that I would not have been told they were welcome in there! The whole thing created a big scene and caused a lot of distress for myself and a lot of members if my family on such a difficult and sad day. They offered no apologies and no alternatives! I ended up having to sit outside in the rain with the dogs and unable to join in with my family to remember our loved ones and I was unable to eat as it was raining!! All in all it was a disaster and I will never visit this place again! Absolutely disgusting service...
Read moreThe place looks very pleasant and the staff are good, but the food is not great and customer service from the landlords is non existent!
Ordered a Katsu curry on the basis that I'd had a few before in London and other places and it's tasty, but what was served up was overcooked chicken lumps in a sweet and sour clear sauce that just had loads of onion bits in it.
I couldn't eat it and explained that it wasn't Katsu Curry only for the landlady to come across and say you can show me all the pictures you like, but that was a Katsu Curry!!! And then her husband ambles over and she says here he is this one is the person complaining. I said the same to him and he said I'm sorry I left a key ingredient out. I was expecting him to say breadcrumbs and or curry, but no, it was chilli. I showed him a photo of a real Katsu and he said people didn't like breadcrumbs. I wish I'd taken a photo of what was served up.
Anyway, we will be leaving soon, but wouldn't step foot back in the place and feel sorry for locals with not a...
