After visiting the nearby national trust property Kingston Lacy, we popped into The Old Inn for an early dinner on our way home and we weren’t disappointed. We hadn’t booked a table but we were quickly seated and promptly brought menus and drinks. All of the staff were very friendly, attentive and most of all welcoming towards our two children (toddler and baby) which is always a relief when eating out, as some places aren’t as accommodating when you have children in tow. Our food was very nice, my husband was particularly pleased with his burger which was well cooked (not over cooked as some pub burgers are) and they had a great selection of pizzas and a children’s menu too. The toilets were very clean, plenty of soap & paper towels (again, another huge thumbs up as there is nothing worse than having to use a grubby loo, let alone take a toddler into one!) One of the female members of staff surprised our toddler with some sweets and I don’t think she will ever stop talking about! It absolutely made her day and it was such a lovely gesture. I really can’t recommend this pub enough, everything was wonderful from start to finish and we’re pleased to have stumbled upon this place. We’ll definitely visit again...

This was our first time at The Old Inn, we always used to go to a different pub in the area, but last year was not a great experience, so finding somewhere new was daunting because we're not local. I didn't need to worry at all! Our booking was for 15 (8 adults and 7 children) people along with 3 dogs. Simon promptly responded to my initial enquiry and was very patient and accommodating when the numbers changed a couple of times due to uncertainty over work commitments. I also received prompt responses further to questions my party had on certain food orders. When we turned up we got a very warm welcome from the staff and they were all very professional and friendly throughout and even though we were asked to place pre-orders (which was no problem), we did add a couple of other extras on the night and that too was dealt without fuss. Then to top it all, the food was fantastic!! I would highly recommend going to The Old Inn and we will be in touch to book again for our annual trip next...

I visited The Old Inn at Holt on Thursday 17 September 2020 in the evening. I was with two other people. This was my first visit.

I parked in the pub car park outside - parking was easy.

The pub comprises of a couple of medium sized dining areas with plenty of tables inside and out with full table service.

The team were very friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and enjoyed the experience. The inside areas are well lit and the gardens are also well lit and very nicely set out.

I enjoyed brie and cranberry for my starter and The Old Inn Burger for my main course followed by some ice cream for dessert. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food was good value for money, I paid around £35 for three courses and two large drinks.

Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come and...

I would need an extra star for the review of this fabulous place! 😁 we have chosen this pub completely at random and been very pleasantly surprised! The pub has it all, stunning building, with great outside (front and back) garden to sit in, beautifully decorated inside. Staff were great, attentive, very professional and friendly- very pleasant overall. And then there is the food, I do not have a high standard, but boy, did I enjoy the food at this pub!!! 👏👏👏 Best mushroom soup I have ever eaten (had other things as well 🤣)😋 to end it all, I have been pleasantly surprised with the prices. For the quality of service and the quality of food, I would have been more than happy to pay more!!! My new favourite pub, shame its almost 3hrs away. If you are considering The Old Inn, please go for it, you will not be disappointed!!!

Usually I'd give this place 5 stars. It's a beautiful pub and restaurant and great staff and food. Maybe they were too busy as it was Christmas Eve but the table we specifically booked was given to another party. We were put on two small round tables pushed together which wasn't good. Two of our party had steak and ale pies and I had steak and kidney. None of them were good. Tough, chewy meat, soggy undercooked pastry and tasteless. We felt we couldn't complain again as we'd already complained about our table. Really surprised, as it's usually lovely. The other 3 meals were good and the place was packed. Maybe they need to concentrate on quality not quantity. Or maybe someone new doing the pies? We'll go again and hopefully it will be back to normal high standards. Just a shame as we were really looking forward to it.
