If you want a great service and excellent food and you in the area, you need to visit. They have indoor and outdoor sitting. Also extremely dog friendly, they are allowed inside as well as outside. They have an amazing cakes range (home made) and ice cream selection. They have fantastic coffee and a great selection of herbal teas and selection of other drinks. Lots of choice, something for everyone. They have a small selection of hot food but we have had over the last couple of days the following, bacon rolls, sausage bap, eggs on toast, tuna sandwich which was easily the best I've had as bread was soft and fresh and mostly tuna where most places give you mostly mayo and makes bread soggy, cheese & onion sandwich, however here they just know what they are doing. I think it's family or friends owned as all staff are super friendly and just want you to enjoy your food/visit, they all seem to care about you. They also have a small selection of groceries, milk, eggs, crisps, sweets, dog food, biscuits toothpaste etc. We are here for a week and will most definitely be back again for more...
Read moreWe visited on a particularly drizzly Sunday, on a stroll from where we were staying for the long weekend. We arrived dripping wet with a soggy dog, to the cosy, warm tearoom with the fire burning but no free tables. Luckily a table was just getting ready to leave so we were able to sit soon after arriving. We ordered coffee, hot chocolate and cakes, all of which were delicious and well presented. I particularly enjoyed the scone with jam and cream, and my wife's hot chocolate was so generously sized that I ordered a second flat white whilst she was still drinking her first drink. The other food looked delicious, would definitely try other things from the menu on another visit. Staff were friendly and helpful, greeting our damp dog and telling stories about some of the interesting decor, after we were amused by the cuckoo clock's chime. Definitely a perfect place to enjoy a treat and warm up on a damp day, but also well suited to a refreshment stop on a warm day, with the outdoor seating. We were also impressed to see a range of essentials for sale, perfect for those staying or...
Read moreWe were absolutely drenched to our undies coming down off the hill via Nanny Lane when we came across a piece of slate saying tea-rooms, 15 minutes and I jokingly said, well someone hiked all the way up here to tell us they've got the kettle on! The rain continued to pour and I wondered if it was too much to hope for that the cafe would be open, that it would be nice, that it would have good coffee and it would have cake! As we approached the old post-office I said, I hope they let us in and I hope they have a mop!!! Well, they did let us in, we dripped puddles onto their floor, they said never mind as they mopped them away (with 2 mops); it was nice, they lit the fire as I wrapped my hands around a wonderful cup of *good coffee, what's more they did have cake and a hot meat and tattie pie. What a wonderful treasure; so if ever you are in the area and you see a piece of slate saying cafe 15 minutes, jog or better still run so that you get...
