We turned up here in the pouring rain as they were just closing up and the angels here made such a kind and generous effort to help us out! They made us the most delicious food baked fresh there (cheese scone and a DELECTABLE sausage roll) when they were meant to be going home, and went absolutely out of their way to do all that they could to make sure we were fed having travelled a long, long way. The salad was even outstanding!!! Sue, Mary and Julie were particularly lovely and helpful. Chris was also great. Really started off our holiday with the most lovely kind and helpful attitudes. I asked them where I could get some waterproof trousers as I am a wally and canāt find mine. Instead of telling me where to buy some one of the angels just said what size are you and proceeded to go to her car to give me some spares she had!! I offered to bring them back and she was having none of it. Iāve never had a better experience at a cafe in 30 years of life on this planet. Thanks, you are superstars, excellent service and excellent advice on where to go in the local area! Will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBumbling staff, useless waiter and sandwiches we had to put together ourselves. This is the second and last time I have been here, drove out after mothers day in Keswick and was again not impressed. Ordered two cheese and chutney sandwiches at over Ā£5 EACH and they didnāt even spread the chutney in the sandwich, it was provided in a tiny bowl a measly serving between two rounds of sandwiches and the cheese was clearly pre sliced from a package. when I asked the waiter (if you could call him that) āI donāt know!ā Was the response, side salad was minimal and the dressing so unpleasant I didnāt risk more than one bite. This place must make a fortune of poor unsuspecting tourists at those prices luckily I know the area and we went elsewhere for coffee and cake afterwards. Made a complaint to the front of house only to get a very annoyed and rude response. Please stay away if you value your wallet and any...
Read moreLovely little place and the food was nice enough but I nearly keeled over when I realised I was getting charged £7 for a small slice of cake. Over £14 for a sausage sandwich (which was nice) a can of coke and slice of cake plus £1.20 parking on top. No prices on display for the cakes which I'm not surprised at as if there was I don't think they would sell many. Put a bit of a damper on an otherwise lovely day and walk.
In response to the tea rooms reply, the Cumberland sausage was £4.95, the can of pop was £2.50 and I was charged a total of £14.70. You do the sums. I also heard someone else order 2 slices of cake which came to over £14 so something is wrong with your prices. I had no complaints about the sandwich,...
