The Old Star is a lovely local pud which has under gone massive improvement and much need it has to be said and yet still keeps its welcoming oldy worldy charm I remember from years ago I used this place when I was 17 it was my local I played pool for it at one point and football it is a proper local pub and now Ernie has it who is a local hero around these parts his skill as a landlord for many years has bought this lovely bit of local community spirit back to were it belongs the on site Star Bites is a lovely little addition to the place you can get food sit in or out with you drinks an you can even order to take away if the girls aren't to busy they even have a delivery service and they cater for buffets too the food is always fresh an I've had quite a bit off the menu 😀 but honestly for a place like this to still be going takes hard work commitments and support so please let's keep our locals open give it try I bet you will keep going back I...

I visited briefly on a busy Saturday night. I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the bar area (always a sign of a licensee who 'gets it'). The bar was well stocked & I was served promptly by friendly staff at a realistic price. The pub was encouragingly busy and clearly popular, just how it should be! Live entertainment was good, supplied by a female vocalist. I ventured outside, great open and covered seating complimented the interior. The view of the fields behind the pub was great, complimented at dusk by some inquisitive young cattle. I had a chat with some friendly older guys (like me) before leaving. Little gem of a good British pub. Host Ernie is a true gentleman in character and goes above and beyond to ensure your safety during these pandemic times is paramount. I visited the pub for my birthday on 8th December 2020 with 2 additional friends. We were showed to our table which was very spacious for that 1m apart rule but still felt cosy and comfortable. We drank beer and ate fresh pizza and baguettes made up of delicious local sourced produce. Staff are so very attentive and Ernie (Landlord) gave me a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate 🍾 my birthday.
