Not eaten here for many years, even though we live close by. After having a couple of average experiences at different curry houses in York, my youngest son and I decided to give it a try. Wow, wish I had come back sooner! Restaurant was busy, it was Friday, but service was excellent and friendly.
My son had a Chicken Chaat for starters and I had the King Prawn Puri, both were delicious and generous portions. For mains he had a Chicken Silsila which was medium and I had a Garlic Chilli Chicken Balti which was medium hot with sliced green chilli, again absolutely delicious. We ordered sides of Keema Rice and a Peshwari Naan, both really tasty and perfectly cooked.
The food isn't the cheapest but I'd rather pay a bit more for an amazing meal than less for something below average, and this was amazing. We nearly went back the following evening with my wife but need to watch the waistline pre-Christmas!! We will however be back soon! I don't write many reviews but such a good experience deserves the positive feedback.
If, like us, you haven't been here for a while, I can highly recommend the Parvin. Genuinely the best curry I have...
Read moreValue for money Sunday buffet. Not quite what we are used to in terms of the definition of buffet as its fixed starters from the menu and a decent selection of rice and curry from the buffet help yourself selection.
We had the chicken tikka masala and it was nice, needed a boost in terms of individual taste and tolerance for spice and chilli's but was good around but hey chef drop a spoon full of ghost chilli in for good measure.....
His lordship did go for the last curry labelled hot chilli and ok that hit the spot in terms of scoville rating, I can't repeat here in this family web site the terminology his lordship used but he did threaten to pull up a chair and just spoon it straight out and in ! The mild version being crikey that's hot
Good value for money, decent range of choices, good size car park and friendly staff on hand to help
Nice here especially if you haven't tried...
Read moreCame for my mum's birthday, the wait staff were rude upon arrival and acted like us being there was an inconvenience to them, when I asked for a second drink the waiter rolled his eyes and walked off as if that was personally offensive. The atmosphere inside was awful, extremely tense and we considered just cancelling our order and just leaving anyway. When my mum ordered her main with rice, the waiter shook his head condescendingly and rolled his eyes and said she couldn't order rice with that dish as it apparently 'came with rice already mixed in' I had to step in and ask them to actually just let my mum order what she wanted, when the food arrived the rice wasn't mixed in it was on the side and when my mum communicated that it had been different in another indian restaurant and that's why she ordered the rice the waiter rolled their eyes. Overall not a very...
